Passed my Comm Checkride!! Checkride Write-Up

Congrats! Good luck on your CFI. You'd be surprised how little you know as you build your lesson plans, but I think you'll enjoy it.

    Westward ho! Advice solicited.

Yea, right ;-) You are actually going to fly above one if you are landing on 21.

Sedona is great! PM me if you need any recommendations, help, or dinner. :)

    Operation Butt Freeze

Yea! Do it! My advice - assume you forget everything and think of yourself as a new student for the first few lessons - it will help the ego deal with less then perfect performance and avoid the "I should know this". It will all come back. You are going to miss winter flying under the hood...

    Tough call...

I've seen PPL students using the GA bill. http://www.northaire.com/veterans-benefits.html

Dumbest thing you have done and lived to tell about it

Set in the back seat of a V-Tailed Bonanza, on a hot bumpy day. Luckily they had bags in the back. Never again.:vomit:

Sedona Airport Under Attack - Spread the Word!

Just ran into this thread. I know (not personally) one of the key people behind this. That person believes Chem-trails causes illness in Sedona. Smart meters are used to spy on the residents, etc... you get the idea. Sedona is very New-Agey, which brings a lot of interesting people here. The...

    Glider rating

I was reading this and thought its a good checklist - I read each line and thought "Done that". Maybe other then raising nose to stretch the glide.

Correct way to pick up the wing in a stall

Because? If the ailerons are not stalled yet - why not use them?

Hey girl, how much do you weigh?

Easy for you to say, you are a Doctor. Some people I know would bend over and cough if a doctor tells them to. :)

Correct way to pick up the wing in a stall

Hi all, One of the things I like the most when working with a different CFI is the different opinions about things. Today, we did stalls. As a student I was thought - pick the low wing with the rudder. CFI: "Use aileron, otherwise you could enter a spin" Me: "Adding that rudder is will cause...

    checkride and hearing attention

Do you "read back" instructions? I've found that repeating the instructions helps me to actually remember what had been said, and let the "other guy" (CFI/ATC/DPE) know I got it. On my Instrument rating I just wrote down everything. That helps too. Its a good skill to have, think traffic...

Landed behind 2 F-18s on Friday

Tracey, you've been here long enough. Here's the real definition of Overhead brake. "Something that gets POAs excited more then a room full of single female pilots". Add "RV" and "Light sport is better" and you are set for 3-4 pages. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. I'll now go...

Landed behind 2 F-18s on Friday

It is! I'm no expert but I believe you are supposed to come high and fast on final (like 1000ft high) then cut the power, bank 80 degrees to downwind which will kill your speed, then land normally.

Landed behind 2 F-18s on Friday

Gotta love them. A few days ago I was landing on 21R while a T-45 Goshawk (navy's skyhawk I guess) did an.... Overhead break. :hairraise: And landed on 21L. Love this plane.

    Squirrely winds, good practice

Good for you. Flying before the storm is a very Dynamic thing :-) Good practice. After a lot of 182 and 210 flying, I'm re-learning to fly 172s. From the right seat and up in Prescott (my new home base I guess). Add 20G25 variable wind (mainly down the runway, but at some points it was 60*)...

    182RG versus 210

Don't know, not A&P nor knowledgeable about mechanics. I know that we had issues with gear doors, and had a hydraulic fluid leak, neither were "uncommon" to my CFI's opinion.
