Back pressure needed on takeoff & landings in a C172

If it was trimmed nose down, wouldn't you have to hold back pressure throughout the flight, not just for takeoff and landing? If you fly the same plane again, while you're preflighting, pull the yoke all the way back so you can see what you're doing, and then work the trim until the tab lines...

    new-to-me ForeFlight "flight notifications"?

This weekend, I filed my SFRA flight plan with ForeFlight as usual, but observed a new behavior: The Flights tab at the bottom lit up with a badge, distracting^Walerting me to the fact that I had 7 unread flight notifications. I dutifully drilled into the flight plan to mark them all as read and...

Back pressure needed on takeoff & landings in a C172

Welcome to PoA! "Flight controls free and correct" If it felt like it was binding or there was something that you had to pull "through", I'd squawk the plane. Maybe a turnbuckle is getting hung up on something or the cables are twisted up? Not that that ever happens.

NA: dog ownership + lawn care

I used to have a lawn, but after a year of being a dog urinal, it's got dead spots / dead areas with occasional surviving clumps of grass. Are there species of grass that are more tolerant? Should I just plant wildflowers or whatever is fashionable? Go the xeriscaping route and cover the yard...

    121.5 ELT to 406 ELT

After I got my plane, the very first order of business was a trip to a bona fide avionics shop for a new comm, ADS-B transponder, and a 406 ELT. Imagine my surprise when I learned, after the fact (probably from here) that they should not have mounted the new ELT where the old one was...

I recently put a pair of surplus bookshelf speakers on garage duty with one of those little bluetooth amps. Ironically, I've been just plugging a radio into the line input...

For that and other reasons, I turn off bluetooth when not in use. There's also a mute button if you swipe left on the conversation.

    chronically low vacuum indication

No vac indicators have been replaced on my watch, but this one just tested good at annual last month. I've owned it since 2018, the problem first appeared 2021. Maybe 2-3" around and about a foot long. Look for cessna venturi on ebay aviation for better pics. Guessing p/n AN5807-1. In any...
