    Anyone switch foreflight <==> FlyQ?

I switched from FF to FlyQ. Why? I bit on the lifetime deal. Overall, I think FF looks better. However, FlyQ will do the same thing FF will do. I also had a couple of Stratus issues and the manufacturer of Stratus refused to make the situation right. I’m an IFR pilot. I slowly rolled of FF until...

Airport to use - Downtown Houston

For Downtown locations, I'd use Hobby if you are good with a moderately busy airport. If you are uncomfortable being around big iron, EFD is a good alternative. These are both GA friendly airports.

Part 141 Graduate... Need a DPE

We have a few new DPE's in Houston that I think are trying to stay busy. I didn't have a problem scheduling my commercial a few weeks ago. Much different than having to schedule my instrument about a year ago...that took almost 3 months to get scheduled.

    Hangar Burglary

We had a issue over in Houston. There was a guy who was on the Houston pilots' Facebook group. He claimed to be a pilot and would always bum rides with folks. Shortly after people would fly with the guy, headsets or avionics would disappear. He was also selling stuff on the group for ridiculous...

    Hey Taylor Tx people

I've been to Lockhart and Llano. They are both excellent airports with cars for bbq runs. I'll have to give the nod to Lockhart. I'm a fan of Smitty's or Black's. For Austin BBQ, Stile's Switch or Brown's. I'm not a fan of Salt Lick. Before making the trip to Driftwood, I'd go to County Line...

    Houston Bravo

You will be fine. Houston ATC is a good group. The main supervisor dude is a GA pilot. I think they go out of their way to help GA.

I'd give Dwayne Jones a call. I think he is based in your neck of the woods. I'm not sure he does this kind of work though. Dwayne Jones 281-433-6077 jonesavionics@sbcglobal.net

    Musketeer vs a C172

Trained in a 172, but I bought a Sundowner. The Sundowner has a tad more room. It will carry a little more fuel. It's not going to win a speed award, but a 172 isn't either. The 172 is probably a tad more forgiving. You really need to flight the Mouse by the numbers. Parts and maintenance will...

Enlighten me: Veterans Benefits paying for training

Chapter 30 and Chapter 33, yes. Hazlewood, maybe, if you can find a 4 year, public institution receiving formula funding for flight training and not classifying flight training as "extraordinary costs". As far as I know, Texas Southern, Tarleton State, and TAMU-Central Texas (or whatever they...

    Beech Musketeers

I've had a Sundowner for about a year now. I'm a big guy. I like the room. This is my first plane so I really can't compare maintenance costs. Yeah, it is slow. However, for my mission, it doesn't add much time. It will haul about 60 gallons of fuel so you have no need to be fast!

Best first plane for a big guy?

I'm about your size. I fly a Beech Sundowner. Yeah, it's slow, but plenty of room.
