Any Ford F-series experts out there?

I'm looking to get a 9th generation F-series 4x4. I want one of these because it's the last generation that had the Windsor engine. I was wondering if I get an F-150, can it be upgraded to F-250 or 350 specs by simply swapping out axles and springs? Is there such a thing as an F-250 with the...

No, to be an accurate control, the 3rd option should be boobs.

VW Radial engine, has it ever been installed??

I came across this youtube vid and thought it was a good idea since it uses parts that are already in production. Has anyone seen this before and has it been installed on an airplane??

NA -- What is your favorite war movie?

Didn't like U571 for 2 reasons. 1) Couldn't accept Mathew McConaughey as the captain, he just wasn't very convincing. 2) They made it an action movie and I couldn't take that either because submarine movies always work better when done as a suspense story.

    Lancair International for sale?

Yep, I'd even like to see the 235 available again.

    Lancair International for sale?

I don't think that you're buying much liability since it's a homebuilt kit. The only issue I can see if a part is manufactured incorrectly (not to print). I have heard that there may be some royalty issues with Cessna for making pars in common with the 300/400/Corvallis.

Suzuki 1200 Bandit engine for light airplanes.

Let's take your numbers here. 85HP @3000RPM (I'll be generous and use the high number) out of 95 cubic inches, and at the rear wheel no less. That would equate to a volumetric efficiency ratio of aprox. 167% (maybe more) just at the flywheel (you see, I'm being generous again). The most...

    Lancair International for sale?

I just heard about this despite the fact that I know a couple of Lancair employees. Apparently, they are selling off all their pre-Evolution assets so they can focus on Evolution kit production. Has anyone heard if there's a buyer for this? They say that 10% of their business is supporting...

Suzuki 1200 Bandit engine for light airplanes.

Umm, not even close. I've got 3 NHRA National Championships building engines. You can't BS me with these numbers. A 95 c.i. air cooled engine would be lucky to make anything over 50 horse at 3000 RPM's... at the flywheel.

Suzuki 1200 Bandit engine for light airplanes.

Actually the engine only has to turn in the 6K range.

If you adopted SACS technology in a Lycoming or Continental, you could fit the cowling a lot tighter since the cylinder heads would have oil cooling. This would of-set the difference in engine width.

Suzuki 1200 Bandit engine for light airplanes.

For an engine of this size, the low RPM makes too little HP. A Harley or BMW would be lucky to make 50 HP at the revs they turn at. Actually, in direct drive, even less. Just remember, twice the RPM's =~4x the power. In this case a 1200 Bandit engine turning 6,000+ RPMS could only be beat by a...

Suzuki 1200 Bandit engine for light airplanes.

With the Suzuki SACS engine, you might be able to avoid that since it has many characteristics that are aircraft friendly. I've felt for a while that the long stroke experimental engines like the IO-408 were the future of aircraft engines. For the RPM's that aircraft engines operate at, big...

Suzuki 1200 Bandit engine for light airplanes.

To my knowledge, there has never been a car engine with anything close to SACS (Suzuki Advanced Cooling System) technology. It's a combination of air and oil cooling jackets that adds no additional mechanical complication to an air cooled engine while allowing it to produce near liquid cooled...

Suzuki 1200 Bandit engine for light airplanes.

A conversion like the 1200 Bandit wouldn't have the pitfalls of an auto engine. It's light, compact and doesn't require liquid cooling, just a large oil cooler.

I was thinking I could weld it into 1st or 2nd gear and remove the rest of the transmission guts to save weight. Or use some kind of belt drive gear reduction.

I was thinking, of all the motorcycle engines out there that could be converted to AC use, the 1200 Bandit engine (also used in the early GSX-R-1100's) would be a great choice because of its large displacement combined with the fact that it's air/oil cooled (SACS), that gives it a great HP to...

    Motorcycle Mayhem

I sold my NH and got an '07 Suzuki V-Strom 650 with 12k miles on it. So far I love the Strom. It gets good gas mileage (60+mpg when I can keep my hand out of the throttle) and it has a 5.8 gal tank which gives it almost a 350 mile range. I've got Barkbuster handguards, heated grips, 12V plug...
