New To Flight Following - Questions?

On the approach question: with Minneapolis approach and center I've almost always had the flight following controller hand off to the tower. So, you just let tower know you are inbound to land and they are already aware of your position. Chicago is a different story. They usually terminate...

    Smart plug in your hangar?

I use the TP-Link brand smart plugs(HS100 or HS110) to control the Tanis heater. I previously used Wemo, but I got ticked that you can only remotely control Wemo at one location (ie I can't have Wemo at the home and the hangar). I'm not sure if TP-Link supports multiple locations either, but...

    baby/infant options for "headset"

I've been flying with my kid since he was around a month old. Started with Baby Bandz earmuffs. Around a year, we switched to the snug safe and sound earmuffs. Got both from Amazon. Just like a dog with mutt muffs, it took the kid a little while to realize they were good for him and to stop...

    MSP Bravo Transition

I'd suggest flying over Flying Cloud FCM at 2500 and request a delta transition from tower then to lakeville. I doubt Minneapolis approach will give you anything in Bravo on that route from my experience.

new airplane buyers - be aware lenders wont finance past TBO engines

I recommend Wings CU too. Good rates and the two appraisals don't need to be fancy - can be done by an A&P filling out their form. I bought a 9k airframe and 1600 hour C182 using them.

    C 182 Q

I've had a c182q for about four years. Great plane. Like John mentioned about avionics, I have a 430w and stec55 which are good additions. I didn't want to deal with the fuel bladders, so I got a '79' but still have had a fuel leak. Hasn't been a huge deal. Love the plane overall.
