    flying at RUT

The last I knew the FBO wasn't renting anymore, but I'll have to see if that is still true. I probably logged time in the same newer pa28 myself back when I was working on PP. I'll have to talk to CAP. Didn't know they were active on the field. My kingdom for a decent flying club... Jim G

    flying at RUT

Me too. Hope to have a bit more time to focus back on the flying. I shall miss you, and the Wings fly-in (maybe I'll make it down some time from RUT). Jim G

    flying at RUT

We are moving. My wife and I, both 700 hour, commercial rated, single engine pilots, are moving from LNS and leaving our favorite club Saratoga behind. We will be at Southern Vt Regional, RUT, and we need to find something to fly. Does anyone know of planes for rent, or of a club, or of...

Question of terminology for a novel I'm writing.

I would describe one wing up and one wing down as "rolling to vertical" as if it was going to roll over. The lifting motion of one wing up and one wing down is a movement in the roll axis, much the same as nose up and nose down is a movement in the pitch axis, and the tail wagging side to side...

    182 v. Cherokee 6 or Dakota/235 ( Rating system)

I fly a Pa32-301 and a 182Q regularly. Two different birds, with different pluses and minuses. First, I find the PA32 more roomy, with way more shoulder room. Getting in and out not as nice as the cessna for front seaters, but that back door is just awesome. The left side door is great in...

    Avionics wish list

I guess I follow the general majority on here: 1. G430W or better. 2. Dual axis autopilot. Ours was on the fritz all summer, had to hand-fly from LNS to MSP. In and out of IMC. A LONG day. Around the patch or even a 50 NM trip, don't care about AP. Long legs, I WANT that AP...

Is Essential Air Service Really Essential?

We recently got Cape Air into LNS under this grant. We do not have interstate or major highway accesss directly to either PHL or BWI, the two closest Bravos. We DO have highway access to MDT, but that's another small airport that has to take you to a hub somewhere and dump you off. The...

Toyota recall, or how floormats can kill

Glad I'm not the only one who finds the recall stupid and offensive. Apparently, the Lexus in question is one of those new cars where you don't start and shut off by turning a key, and the transmission doesn't just shift with a simple lever on the floor or column (although it sure looks...

Toyota recall, or how floormats can kill

http://www.comcast.net/articles/finance/20090116/BUSINESS-US-TOYOTA-RECALL/ I needed to rant on this one. I own one of the affected vehicles, a 2008 Tacoma. I really LIKE the floormats, they are thick and comfortable under foot and have two anchors that hold them down. As a pilot on...

    MVY TFR

At least there are cracks in the 10 NM "inner sanctum" this time. I HATE the TFRs as much as everyone else here does. We all know they serve no purpose. But rather than complain about this one, I think we have to look on the bright side, hope there aren't 20 violations, and maybe we can...

    Required Reading..

Guys like this are why I don't think I'll ever fly into OSH. Rushing to get this done, with not enough time in it and the plane about 3/4ths done, just to get to OSH to promote the engine design. A lot of good stuff comes out of OSH but stuff like this is just scary! Jim G

    Jakes Pilot Shop

Ditto me. Bought a flight bag on there with no problems, but that was probably 3-4 years ago now... Jim G

Early 80s A36 Bonanza vs. Saratoga

If your mission is 2 adults and 2 kids, you'll find you won't want to touch the club seating. Your kids will LOVE how much room they have (I'm assuming wife will be in right seat up front with you), and the rear facing seats are good places for flight bags, and stuff that two kids on a long...

    LASP - Be very afraid

Cross-posted on Red Board I searched the several threads already open on this "security program" and did not find a list of the affected airports. AVWeb had a list in their email this am. http://www.avweb.com/pdf/general_avi...ts_2009-01.pdf Let's see if this PDF list works as a link...

How Not to fight a Speeding Ticket

That was funny. The whole thing. How come none of the judges I practice in front of look like that judge, or show that much cleavage? Jim G

    Opinions on buying a plane

Flight school around here got a 7AC Champ for light sport training. Last I knew (several years ago), they were paying something like $6000 per year insurance for training/rentals. They are now trying to sell it, as they don't have an instructor who is interested in training in it, and it is...

    Turned over my certificate yesterday

Yeah, working and flying have kept me kind of quiet. Now I have to slow down some so that my wife can get her Com done. That should take a while, then we are both considering multi... Jim G

    Turned over my certificate yesterday

In exchange for a piece of paper that says ASEL Commercial. Been working on the rating for about 6-8 months. The last month, of almost constant work on the oral and manuvers has been rather crazy. The ride went pretty well, I did it over at Cap City CXY with a DE. I'll be glad to not...

N31 - Kutztown PA - where to park

The FBO is auctioning everything off on Sept 6. There is a big ad in Trade a Plane or one of those publications. Looks like all the threats over the years to get rid of the place are finally coming to fruition. I recommend parking to the left, on the grass right beside the diner...
