Back in the Saddle After 42 Years: My Journey Back

Awesome story, I am with you I took 10 years off, then flew again for a bit then took 3 years off, then bought a plane so I would have to fly... Been a regular punching holes in the sky now for the past 17 months. Biting the bullet and buying a plane has made all the difference for me. It has...

    Piper Archer vs. Grumman Tiger

I was just at Johnson County Airport in Kansas City and saw that their local flying club has a Tiger. Rents for $50 an hour dry. If you are in the KC area this would be your opportunity to own part of a Tiger without all the other expenses. Just saying…

    Grumman Tiger Overview

Ron is right, I had zero time in type when I bought my Tiger. I had not flown for a couple of years, did the checkout and my BFR together and it was done. Honestly I paid a bit more than what has been stated here, but only marginally more. I chalk most of that up to the stated higher...

    iPhone 6 or 6 plus?

As I read this thread, I was transformed back to the 80's. I was a PC guy and I recall anyone who owned a Mac going on endlessly how much better they were.... but nothing I actually wanted to do was applicable to a Mac. But that did not stop them from going on about their Mac. The Android...

    Grumman Tiger Overview

Here is the Tiger data from What2fly.com compared to "like" aircraft. Now the useful load with full fuel is not what I get, I am 580, but that is enough for my family so I am good. When you look at the cost per NM, it is tough to beat the Tiger. It is just an efficient aircraft.

    Grumman Tiger Overview

I didn't know we were going to start sharing photos..... There are two types of pilots Grumman Pilots and pilots who have not flown a Grumman. Cherokee 180 v Tiger..... that is a gimme. No offense to Cherokee's, but they are not even in the same class with the Tiger (or Cheetah). If...

Ease family concerns of flying small aircraft

Thanks for starting this thread. I have struggled with the same thing. My wife does not even like to fly in the big birds. She also does not want the kids to fly. So normally I go alone, which I am good with. My issue is that I just want to expose the kids to GA. Let them decide for...

How did you find your plane?

I bought a Grumman Tiger, I contacted all the experts looking for the right plane. The best ones are sold before the public sees them on the market. Gary Vogt knew of a great one that might be for sale, he was doing the annual, called the owner, I wrote a check and it was mine. No where...

Driving from Austin to Reno for the races

I like your plan, do you have reserved seats for Reno? If not bring a lawn chair, if so, bring a seat cushion (and plenty of sun screen). Bring plenty of cash for the air races. I love the vendor booths!

    How many hours?

Since buying my Tiger at the first of June, I have put 25 hours on her. Based on that, I would suspect that we will fly her some 140 hours a year which means in 5 years I would expect to fly 700 hours. The question is, can I keep flying 12.5 hours per month.

Thinking about selling my Grumman Tiger

If you are like almost every other Tiger owner I have met, the answer to your question will be another Grumman Tiger, although you might own something in between. I am shocked when I meet other Tiger owners how many are on their 2nd or 3rd Tigers, always coming back from Bo's, Mooney's, etc...

    Grumman AG5B Transition Training

Since I did not call anyone by name, I find the responses funny to say the least. Knickers in a wad, not really. I just sit in amazement that some of you have nothing better to do. I would think being such ACE pilots the demand for your services would be so great you would not have time...
