    Tell me about Roanoke/Blacksburg

NC State has a great engineering school. I lasted two years in Aerospace engineering before I switched to political science. For some reason I though pilots had to be engineers. :mad2: Luckly, my first discover flight cleared that up.

    Tell me about Roanoke/Blacksburg

I used to date a girl that lived in Roanoke. The airport is nice, been there a few times with students, the city is nice. I guess I just have a bad taste of Roanoke because she lives there lol

    Adding Flaps in a Chandelle

I had an examiner yell at me on my Commercial checkride because I didn't put the gear down during a Chandelle. I racked my brain trying to think if I had ever been shown one like this before, and thought back to both the PTS and AFH, and neither technique was taught like this. After the ride...

    Flying into Charlotte NC

Even at peek times, I have never had any issues getting in to Charlotte. If you are IFR, it shouldn't be an issue.

First Flight in a Cirrus- A question and a question

Could offer to pick up some of the fuel. Or even something like let me take you out to dinner or buy you a beer, or maybe next time you fly, offer him a trip w/ you.

Flying 1 day a week.. CFI .. how long to earn?

Very little flying with the CFI. At least it was for me. I did mine right on the heels of getting my commercial license, so I was familar with the maneuvers, the only difference was flying from the right seat. I think all total, I flew with my instructor maybe a total of 6 times while I was...

    Spin Endorsement???

I was shown a spin when I was working on my PP. Now, most instructors won't show a spin. Spins are no big deal once you understand the mechanics behind them, and you are in the right category kind of a/c.

    Go Around criteria?

Don't forge the last "C" - Comply. On just about every checkride I have had either on one of the landings, or like on my commercial after we had finished the ride and my examiner told me to take him back to Concord, good job, about 300 feet he told me an aircraft had just taxied onto the...

    Flight Videoing

what kind of an adapter would you get from spruce aviation? I just got back from Best Buy and found canon I like, but I know the mic input on the camera is too small.

    Commercial Rating X-C requirements

Have fun with the X-Countrys. I went from Concord up to Pittsburgh, spent the weekend with friends and then flew back. The long cross country for the commercial was one of the more fun training trips I took during my time training.

    Good Aviation Weather Books?

That is it, it is good to put you to sleep at night, or learn a lot about weather. :mad2:

    Complex Endorsement

Definetely understand how a constant speed propeller works. From my experience, most pilots who have a complex endorsement still don't understand the basic theory behind the c.s.p.

    Good Aviation Weather Books?

Aviation weather for pilots is one of the books I used. Its kind of dry, but will give you a solid understanding of weather and the atmosphere

    Flew for lunch...watched an accident.

Feel sorry for them. I had a similar experience coming back from Florida, hit some strong cross winds, 19G28 and ran off the runway. But as long as there is no damage to you, an airplane can always be fixed, and egos mended.

Using Flight Following to Practice Manuvers

When I took my commercial checkride, the examiner got all over me for not requesting flight following for the maneuvers in the practice area. I knew that radar coverage outside of Charlotte was not that good so the conversation went like this: 1. Me - Climb checklist complete 2. Concord...
