    2024 PPL written test

I don't see anything wrong with it. I learned on my own at my own pace and did very well on the test. One will still have to keep current regardless of what you score on the test. I am still rereading material I did study months ago and getting better insight now that I have the license and...

What kept you going through training?

100% this. I can't wait to experience that as well. It leaves only you, yourself, and you to do things right and to listen to your own scolding for messing up. When I come down hard, I can blame it on myself and self-reflect on what I did wrong. Good story Gary! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for a very empathetic and understanding response. I appreciate it and will definitely take your advice to avoid in the real world as well as on these boards.

    My Glider Club Impressions...

But I already did my research and chose the glider before I even joined the club. I discussed it thoroughly with my instructor in AZ as well as the salesman. I put a downpayment on the glider once I solo'd the first time. It's a new world we live in that I have to try not to tell someone that...

What kept you going through training?

The last day before my checkride, I wanted to quit. My instructor got on my butt for literally everything I was doing. He let nothing get by without chastising me. By mid-day I was exhausted and was so overwhelmed with all the mistakes I made, I just had to go home and tell myself that if I...

    My Glider Club Impressions...

There was 3 people who asked me if I was buying a personal glider. From what you are suggesting, I should tell them no and surprise everyone when I bring one to the club. Is that going to save me the trolling? Will I be seen like everyone else at the club? I don't think that will shelter...

    My Glider Club Impressions...

I haven't displayed any aggressiveness here in this thread. I don't know a fraction of everything there is to know. I go there to gain experience. However, I don't need someone asking me if I know what a stall is. And I don't go around broadcasting that I'm buying a brand new glider. People...

    My Glider Club Impressions...

It's not like I was deliberating not flying the carat to **** off the club members. And yes, I know it's minimum approach speed. It was perfectly suitable for me to fly it since there was 0 headwind. Are you apart of my club?

    My Glider Club Impressions...

Yes, he knew I had recently gotten my license. No matter how anyone here wants to put it, that question is completely unacceptable no matter what his intent was for asking it. It's literally an insult to almost anyone who is learning to fly or have flown before. It can be taken the way I took...

    Military pilots favor gliders?

Agree. I have never spun a glider yet. I've been shown wingovers (which are very fun) but nothing else.

    Military pilots favor gliders?

I've got a lot of hours for that, but yes, I might as well take advantage of the many hours I will accumulate and go commercial.

    It doesn't cost that much. It's 270k - 300k new.

    Military pilots favor gliders?

For now, that's what I am doing. Of course I'm contributing to the financial aspects of the club but I am also in charge of assisting with our own FS computer in the office. Things are moving around a lot since the open of our new clubhouse. I'm sure once things get underway this summer, I'll...

    Military pilots favor gliders?

I fly. Because of my back, I can't assist with holding the wings level and signaling to the tow pilot to manage operations. Our chief of operations is an ex-F16 fighter pilot. I usually get there early before everyone else and then put in my altitudes on the tow tickets and go off.

    Military pilots favor gliders?

From my experience they are more abundant in the glider community. Our glider club has a lot of them (more than my previous training club at an all single-engine club).

    Military pilots favor gliders?

All, Ever since I started learning how to fly gliders, I've met a lot of ex-military pilots flying fighter jets. I've asked some of them why did they choose gliders instead of regular prop plane clubs and none of them have given me any straight answer. Why is there an abundance of fighter jet...

    My Glider Club Impressions...

I feel that he is either jealous or racist based on his comment about me knowing what a stall is. And yes, he asked that question out of geninue concern. The guy then reemed me when I landed proposing that I should not have held my speed at carat and "don't do that again.." There was no wind...
