Wind calmed down the last couple days. Got another 15 landings in most were decent. CFI gave me the keys this morning, did 3 more solo. Last one was a little rough as it was getting windy again but brought the plane back in one piece and flyable. lol
He signed off the solo endorsement for the...
Thanks for the reinforcement. Appears the winds will be calm today. If I can land ok without chasing it 1/2 way down the runway that should ease my doubt.
Have about 18 hours. Still getting over being nervous. Doing stalls power on and off, unusual attitude recovery. Landing is my Achillies heel. The CFI is great no problems there. Starting to get fun. Did 6 landings Tuesday in a 5-7 k crosswind without assistance. CFI keeps saying I am about...
I was in the auto repair industry during and after lead removal. It was serious problem. Have seen cases where valves receded so far into the heads the lifters ran out of travel, valves would no longer seat with a resulting misfire.
There aren't many of us around today that experienced it...
They are heavy trucks about 10k without whatever is on back. However, would guess less than 5% of the time pulling hills. Only provided the information for the hour comparison vs expected replacement interval. Some boats might get closer to the load % but still doubt anywhere near aircraft...
Owned a towing company. Our trucks started in the morning and usually didn't shut off the entire shift. Lots of idle time. Once I ordered a new GM truck and optioned it with an hour meter, just to get some idea how many hours between repairs. We usually got around 140-160k miles of service...
Thanks for the information. Didn't mean to stir the pot. There has been so much conflicting medical information in the last few years don't know who to believe. Probably will wait till fall then decide.
Am older than 60 with very mild asthma otherwise healthy. My Dr recommended I get the RSV vaccine. After the covid debacle am a little concerned about ulterior motives, especially respiratory related. Is this shot safe?
Am going to ask about wed when we have a flight scheduled. There's a lot that happens in a short period of time. Had to abort 2 landings last week because they were so out of shape. Everything else I see improvement just getting a little frustrated with the landings. Thanks
Can I ask how many landings it took? Know everyone is different but I am having trouble getting the landings. CFI has helped on everyone so far, have around 40. Think I am over controlling, tail seems to want to pass the plane just before landing. CFI really hasn't said what I am doing wrong...
Am in the same boat 3rd class with SI that expires end of this year. So do I let the 3rd class expire then get an exam from my DR or do it before the 3rd class expires? There is an AME here that is easy to work with. Should I go to him instead for the BM exam? The item I do not qualify for on...
Weather has been crappy. Finally got out today. Very blustery 15-30 mph winds. At one point plane rocketed up 1000'. Guess that's better than down. Did some turns, keep the altitude relatively steady. Can see it will take time to get relaxed especially with these conditions. Going out again...
Going out today for the first lesson. Medical was a bit of a headache but got passed that. Already completed and passed ground school. Missed a couple questions that were on GPS, it wasn't covered much. This is flying thing is way out of my wheelhouse. Found an instructor that isn't a time...
Moderation, mostly avoid fried or fast food. My Achillies heel is chips. Weight has been creeping up so on a diet right now. People I work with eat fast food most days and are always broke. If they added up that cost for a month they might make lunches at home.
I received a SI for glaucoma. Class 3 medical. Certificate is valid for 1 year. If I understand the letter correctly, they are asking for an updated examination before the end of the year to renew. Is it possible to go basic med or am I required to stay in 3rd class and continue yearly glaucoma...
