    SPOT vs. 406 plb

Thanks again for the info. As I continue to look at the systems I constantly wonder how my situation would unfold. If I'm laying in my cornfield next to a busted up plane I activate my spot 1. I hope the satellite system picks up my signal 2. I wait for the spot controller to call my...

    SPOT vs. 406 plb

OK I see how they are processed. Since each of these entities are basically dispatch centers how much delay is there in processing and who are the responders who actually come rescue me in each case. I ask because here in the midwest there are few federal resources for AFRCC to request...

    SPOT vs. 406 plb

there have been some great posts here providing information on the COSPAS/SARSAT system. My question is who actually responds if I go down in the midwest, I'm injured and I can activate both devices. Its my understanding that SPOT activates the closest PSAP (911 center). How about SARSAT?

I'm 6'4 and I was 250lbs when I did my flight training in a tomahawk. I enjoyed every minute of my time in that plane.

    scholarship from sennheiser

I recently came across this scholarship opportunity so I thought I would share it with all of you. I am not affiliated with this company but it looks like a great chance to offset some of the coasts associated with flight training. http://www.sennheiser-aviation.com/live-your-dream

    Learning to fly an amphibian

Thanks for the info Jim! I knew there was someone out there doing it, but I didn't know who. Even though I would love to learn in amphibian I understand the restrictions, and would be very happy learning in a "Seaplane"

    Learning to fly an amphibian

Kent, Thanks for the info. I have heard that there is someone on the mississippi, but I can't find any information on them. The adventure seaplane folks appear to be the best option so far.

    Asthma Inhaler

I fought this battle when I first started flying. If you have a reasonable examiner this should not be a huge hurdle. I have controlled Asthma, and I still have my medical. :)

    IPAD and charts

I just saw your post while surfing the web on my iPad. I clicked your links and when I tried to download the Chicago sectional I got an error. I will try later to see if there is another way, but I'm not sure why I would need to because I use ForeFlight and it has almost everything I need.
