“Weird Al” Yankovic 2019 Tour Dates:

I've been to several of his shows - they are a lot of fun. Sad to see he's not coming to my city this year. Might have to fly to one the nearby venues.

Wow, I listened to the "How Not To Arrive At Oshkosh" clip. That was brutal...

    Defeating Get Home Itis

You and your passengers are alive, and the airplane is in good shape. Sounds like a great outcome to me.

No. I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande... :(

    truck on runway

When I was a student pilot, I took a solo flight to a nearby pilot controlled airport. It was winter, so I wasn't too surprised to see a snow blower on the side of the runway (comfortably off to the side) when I flew over. On final the snowblower was further down and still out of the way. On...

    Neat internet find

That's pretty cool! One day I was googling some of the planes I used to rent and found this: That's me in a landing flare in a rental warrior. There was an air expo at the airport at the time and someone happened to snap the photo and post it. I emailed the guy and he sent me a full...

    3D printing and aircraft

I work for a 3D printer mfr. Some of the materials we have are very high temp (i.e., extrude at 900°F) and high strength. I can't really go into a lot of details but we have a lot of aviation customers. We currently have Ultem 9085, which is FST rated for aviation use (Flame Smoke Toxicity)...

    What is with Tecnam's reputation?

I have a few hours in the Bravo. It was a fun plane to fly, but the last time I tried to use it, it started running very roughly just after run up. If there hadn't been traffic ahead of me waiting to take off, it would have been a nerve wracking climbout. Turns out it was a wimpy fuel pump...

Earth might not be so special after all

Wow, this makes me glad I'm not in the spin zone. But, are you really that ignorant? Gov. Perry leased some hunting land and found a rock with "Nigg3rhead" written on it. He promptly painted over it as soon as he'd discovered it. Perhaps you'd like to explore some other news sources...

    PIREP on iPro Aviator/M

I prototyped a similar kneepad (but before iPad minis were around) and I would put sectionals, etc. in the compartment. Unfortunately, the yoke would hit it because it was too thick. Do you have enough clearance for the yoke?

Video of 14 yr old kid first solo ...

It's amazing what a young person can accomplish if you challenge them. Their brains are still wired for extreme learning and their reflexes are sharp as well. She looked very confident and had good stick and rudder skills. She has a bright future indeed.

    Fast solo?

Keep in mind it isn't a flight from Los Angles to Hawaii. It's three takeoffs and three landings. You must have done enough serviceable landings in a row that your instructor thinks they're not flukes. You'll probably be a bit nervous until you start getting into your routine, and then you'll...

    Rentals

Here in Minnesota, near Minneapolis, a newer glass panel 172 rents from an FBO for about $130 an hour. I'm with a club, so keep in mind I had to buy a share (which I can resell), and I pay $100 a month. The cost per hour of a 172 with a Garmin 430 and IFR capable is $95 an hour.

Consequences for FAA Medical Exam with an underserved implied consent charge.

I'm not speaking to the OP's truthfulness, since there are always two sides to the story. But if there's anyone here that doesn't believe that there's corrupt or criminally incompetent police officers out there, you are dead wrong. OP's story is plausible. I just wish he would have lawyered...

Consequences for FAA Medical Exam with an underserved implied consent charge.

I hope you get the help you need to get past this and get flying. That being said, never ever EVER talk to a cop without an attorney present if you are a suspect of any kind. Keep an attorney's number in your wallet at all times. Any decent lawyer would have told Barney Fife to beat feet and...

    Ham Radio Anyone?

KC0FBW Just a technician license for now. I have a nice older HF rig that I can use if I ever get off my duff and pass some more tests. Anyone ever use the ham frequencies while flying?

    Employer-provided sick time

That's what the last two employers I've worked for have done. Base vacation for new employees is 10 days, plus 5 days for "sick" time but if you don't use them for sick days you can use them as normal vacation. If you use a day, nobody cares if you are sick or just lazy. It's your day.
