will my urgent care visit cause problems?

Even if he told you this verbally, he should have written it down in a patient report. You should be able to do a a records request from the urgent care facility. As additional information goes, this is probably as easy as it gets.

Fact or Fiction: FAA Continues to Remove Barriers/Reduce Stigma for Mental Illness in Pilots

I admit, this makes a lot of sense. I still think there are better solutions for testing neurocognitive abilities per flight safety than what the FAA has come up with so far.

Fact or Fiction: FAA Continues to Remove Barriers/Reduce Stigma for Mental Illness in Pilots

I feel like this thread has gotten a little off topic. OP asked about ADHD, anxiety, and depression, not psychosis. Besides, I cannot fathom letting someone with a history of psychosis fly an airplane without a lot of scrutiny. But to answer OP's original question, disagree. While it is true...

Mental Health & Medical Clearances ARC Report

I should add that, in February, House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure wrote a bipartisan letter to the FAA on this topic. I think there’s a good chance Congress steps in directly if the FAA doesn’t implement satisfactory change soon - regardless of the screaming from OKC. The FAA...

Mental Health & Medical Clearances ARC Report

Mental Health and Aviation Medical Clearances Aviation Rulemaking Committee Recommendations Report I'm kind of surprised this hasn't been posted here yet, but yesterday the FAA's Mental Health and Medical Clearances ARC released their report. If even half of these recommendations are...

    First class medical with Schizoid

BasicMed still requires one third class issuance.

    First class medical with Schizoid

I agree, schizophrenics shouldn't be flying airplanes. My issues with the medical process are that it's a bureaucratic mess and the standards for medicals are outdated/arbitrary.

What does "Final Review" actually mean?

How is it different from "In Review?" Also, MedXPress says it'll take two days, but I have my doubts. What are some experiences you guys have had with this?

    FAA's Beef with ADHD

Nah. Don't conflate these issues. The only reason I want the FAA to pay for their excessive medical testing is because this is a problem created by them, so it should be fixed by them. Overall healthcare is a separate issue outside the scope of this thread.

    FAA's Beef with ADHD

Sorry, that was a little hyperbole on my part. I’m working with a HIMS AME (a different one). I suppose I should probably ask him.

    FAA's Beef with ADHD

Yeah... that truly is the issue. I don't want to go off on a personal issue, but this is important to me. I asked the question because I have a previous diagnosis that I disclosed to the FAA. Thing is I probably need to go back to counseling again, but don't think it's related to the original...

    FAA's Beef with ADHD

You're right. The FAA is not subject to market forces that would normally incentivize an organization to cut costs. However, the FAA is subject to Congress. Under such a program (which would have to be authorized by Congress in the first place) the FAA would have to justify its funding level. So...

    FAA's Beef with ADHD

The purpose of this idea is two-fold. First, if pilots don't have to foot the bill for excessive testing, it's likely that more pilots would be forthright on their medicals and seek treatment when necessary. This makes the skies safer, which is of public benefit. Therefore, this would arguably...

    FAA's Beef with ADHD

I know you're specifically talking about mental health, but the problem is far more broad. The current system incentivizes pilots to (a) lie on their medicals or (b) not seek treatment for problems. Both of these represent serious threats to aviation safety. Even the NTSB acknowledges this. In...

    FAA's Beef with ADHD

I haven't been following this conversation at all, but I wanted to add my $0.002. I think cognitive stuff like this should really be determined by whether your CFI is comfortable with you soloing and whether can pass a checkride. Maybe there's some more guidance given to CFIs on whether a...

ADHD COGSCREEN advice? - Houston Area

Yep. But my examiner made it sound like it was a combination of things rather than one specific thing. A big part of it was that some of my results were amazing, while others were... less amazing (bad). According to my examiner, this variation in the results makes the FAA uncomfortable because...

ADHD COGSCREEN advice? - Houston Area

Yeah, the backwards part was always harder for me. One thing too is knowing what’s coming was really helpful the second time around for me. I could share in greater detail but I‘m unsure if that is frowned upon/illegal. Afaik I didn‘t sign an NDA though

ADHD COGSCREEN advice? - Houston Area

Having taken the full battery twice, I feel like I can confidently say it doesn’t matter who your AME & HIMS Psychiatrist are. The tests are standardized. The HIMS Psychiatrist (or their office staff) is the one who will administer the testing and they have very little, if any, wiggle room for...
