    First time Oshkosh planning

Solid nuggets of advice! I would like to think that I can reserve one of the shore-spots, the electric hookup sites, but we'll see how I change my mind by the time those are open for reservations. I don't have an issue paying what it costs to have the conveniences that would make the...

    First time Oshkosh planning

Absolutely, in my backpack even, for recharging all the time while wandering Super valid advice right here, will do! Live in the moment, don't focus on what I may be missing somewhere else. True, but the cost of those (vrbo, hotel, bnb) are all hyper inflated due to the gathering of course...

    First time Oshkosh planning

I'm looking forward to it! Yeah, that's still a sad fact even in a "family" community. People are people, take anything that aint nailed down, and sometimes that, too. Great! Yeah, I will keep it locked safely in my truck when it looks like I can't store it safely. Otherwise I'll bike around...

    First time Oshkosh planning

Gotcha! Okay, for some reason I thought I saw something about picking my spot when ordering the tickets and various reservations on the website. I'll plan to ge tthere whenever then, and be totally fine with whatever campsite I get. I'll be either trailing a camper with me, or have it...

    First time Oshkosh planning

Nice! Yeah that's a perfect list, I'll bring excess of all of those things, and just buy anything I forgot. I think Driving will allow me to take a bunch of stuff I would want. Fantastic advice, I scoured the EAA website and have found all the information I thought I needed. And I'm planning...

    First time Oshkosh planning

Hi all, I am planning to attend Oshkosh this July for my very first time ever. I'm looking for tips and suggestions about how to make it as enjoyable, comfortable, and accessible as possible without having to run into so many beginner mistakes that might make it a bummer... My Plans: Drive...

Just joined the forum, looking for events to attend

This weekend was great! I got there 7:45 am Saturday and wandered around all day. Visited the seminars when I got over that end of the area, signed up for the AOPA membership, took a bunch of pictures of great planes, and enjoyed chatting with some new friends. 8 hours of walking around there...

Flight Medical Consult - no FAA form yet

Another update on this one: After the consult and guidance from the AME 2 weeks ago, I contacted another Dr I see for a specialty issue. They provided a letter within 48 hours with the exact wording recommended in the FAA paper the AME gave me. Yesterday I had my actual flight medical...

Definitely computer nerd stuff, not so much 'programming'. More like system-administration battle scars. :goofy:

Flight Medical Consult - no FAA form yet

Update on this topic: It actually is a very good thing to book a Flight Consult with an AME before starting to fill out the MedXPress forms. I have a condition that seemed absolutely normal but within the questions on the form. I was advised to obtain a letter from my treating doctor...

    favorite double edge razor blades?

This is the forum I stumbled over which got me in to safety razor shaving, and good soaps and balms. https://old.reddit.com/r/wicked_edge/ On the right hand side as you scroll from the top you'll see lots of really useful info on getting started, tips, things to look for, and of course how to...

Vacation (or other) Rental property out of state

That sounds logical. I'll be checking out the various options we have as real estate owners. Not focusing on any one path yet, though thinking through all methods commonly used. I have a job already and plenty of money from it, so I'll be pursuing the options that take less time from me, and...

Vacation (or other) Rental property out of state

This is a really interesting thread to me, as I have recently started researching again how to make real estate work for me. Specifically, I want to create additional income sources aside from my long hours day job. I also want to move back closer to my parents on the other side of the...

    Setting up a website

After doing a little reading I agree that maybe Wordpress would be a really good solution, for a couple reasons: * WP is a big name in this exact area, simple website building and management * Because its so notorious, there's tons of community tutorials, helpful vids, free templates, etc etc. *...

Flight Medical Consult - no FAA form yet

Yep exactly, avoiding undue scrutiny is the main goal with all this, anyway. I'll enter what is needed as required. Thank goodness that is the case, and there's some level of 'dynamic questions' that'll be presented only in certain scenarios.

    Setting up a website

Today there's a million ways to setup a basic website. I use Amazon AWS and host a static site from an S3 bucket. Of course I'm in that industry for work.. The 'easiest' is to find, like the suggestions above, the most accessible point-click website provider(s) and use their services to set up...

Flight Medical Consult - no FAA form yet

Yeah, probably not, but I read a little more on those questions and it appears they're expecting the answers to be along the lines of: 'pilot', 'ATC', 'Instructor', etc. So Employer name will have to be 'Nunya Business' :D
