NTSB says glass no safer than steam

I am not surprised by the findings. Pilots, across varied experience levels, seem to underestimate the amount of training necessary to reach proficiency in TAA. In fact, higher time pilots seem to be the the most likely to feel that proficieny should be easier to accomplish with fewer...

    No stitches for dogbites?

I wasn't being derisive of ER docs. But, it is pretty difficult to be expert at everything that they come across. Scott

    No stitches for dogbites?

Please believe me, I am not being derisive of ER docs; I see an occasional facial wound that had been closed and healed with significant scarring and/or a history of post treatment infection. Invariably, there is evidence of inadequate debridment and a foreign body/debris is found. Often, the...

    No stitches for dogbites?

Nick I have practiced for 23 years and treated conservatively in excess of a hundred severe bites to the face, scalp, ears, nose, and periorbital areas subsequent to dog bites. The "record" involved placing 285 skin sutures (did not count the sutures placed for layered closure) in a 23 month...

Best Glide, Minimum Sink... how about Minimum Energy?

In response to your original post: In a cessna 172 why not just use full elevator trim, full flaps, and keep the wings level. I don't believe the airplane would stall, but then I am not a CFI.

    141 certification

It has been a journey of several months but it appears that my flight school's 141 certificate is nearing completion. I have received notice that we are ready to schedule the "demonstration phase", which involves check rides for my chief pilot etc. Scott

The only issue is that if you have sleep apnea, you will probably be required to have a...

GA, is it dying a slow death?

Everskyward for president in 2012! Mari, your posts are always spot on; reasoned and without vitriol. Scott

GA, is it dying a slow death?

No question; GA is expensive! For those who complain about the cost of renting an airplane or receiving instruction at any level; sit down and look at the real costs to have the plane available, insured, maintained, hangared, & fueled. The FBO's margin is pretty slim!
