I can dig it. Thanks for the feedback. Just hoping it might help someone.

Glass Instrument Panel. Garmin Avionics for beginners

I did, but it didn’t seem useful for the uninitiated.

Glass Instrument Panel. Garmin Avionics for beginners

For me, I heard a lot of G _____ terms thrown around. This puts a picture next to the Garmin model alphanumeric and categorizes it. Just a simple reference if someone wants to familiarize themself with the Garmin offerings.

Glass Instrument Panel. Garmin Avionics for beginners

I made a crude spreadsheet that might help new student pilots get familiar with the avionics. May or may not be helpful. I changed planes several times going from old 6-pack to multiple variations of glass and it was confusing at times. Ballpark prices (not the point of this)

    Upgrade Rotax in sport cruiser?

Is it possible to upgrade from a Rotax 912 to a 914 or 916 in a SportCruiser? Does this require an STC? Bristell has several engine options for more HP. No such option when buying a SC. But is it allowed? Perhaps after MOSAIC? Is it up to the manufacturer to certify this? What if you get it...

    MOSAIC comment period extended

I see the FAA extended the comment period until January at the request of AEA. What is the play here? Is AEA trying to get more (V speeds, passengers, etc) on behalf of sport pilots or trying to restrict it on behalf of LSA manufacturers that might feel threatened by legacy aircraft being...

MOSAIC rule to be published on 7/24

It has been enlightening and somewhat encouraging reading the comments so far on the FAA website for MOSAIC. I am surprised there are not more comments so far. Hopefully a lot more will come in supporting the expansion of light sport. Repeatedly the commenters recommended: 1. 3 passengers...

MOSAIC rule to be published on 7/24

Saw this list of MOSAIC compliance from a cessna flyers website. 182 is surprising. Not sure about other manufacturers that are likely to have several models comply with MOSAIC. I fly a sportcruiser now and would definitely like to find a more powerful low-wing airplane that will fit the MOSAIC...

    Take Action! MOSAIC comment period.

Why would that be a part of a light sport aircraft or sport certificate rule change? Basic Med all but guarantees one a PPL instead of a sport certificate. Most (many?) sport pilots are flying LSA because they can't pass basic med. Unless...basic med becomes available without an a priori 3rd...

MOSAIC rule to be published on 7/24

Easy, gents. Flying over the mountains and flying over them at night are two different things. One engine over rocks in the dark is not my idea of good ADM.

MOSAIC rule to be published on 7/24

I have skin in the game because I just got my sports certificate a couple of weeks ago. I could not pass a third class medical. I want to fly legacy aircraft that will get me over the mountains in Colorado and I want to fly at night. I would love to have two or three passengers. But I know that...

Looking for Sport DPE in Colorado

Has anyone here done a Sport checkride in the Denver area? I am starting to plan ahead by trying to find one that comes with a good reputation (after reading a few nightmare DPE stories here).

6'3", Student Pilot, Colorado, Looking to purchase...

So what would you do? I have the means but don't want to waste $$$ I want a low wing because I have a hard time seeing out of high wing aircraft due to my size. My head hits the canopy in an RV-12. I am training in C-172's. Need performance at altitude. My local airport is at FL 053. Bristell...

    My CFI needs some guidance

Also, my CFI is 70. Damn good pilot and a master of aeronautics, so I like training with him. I have had a few other CFI's and only one other is as good as he is - and he also doesn't seem to know the sport pilot regs.

    My CFI needs some guidance

He wants to make sure he isn't missing anything. He has read the regs but wants confirmation from someone with experience. It seems simple to me, but I may be wrong. Wants to find out what endorsements are possible/legal.
