Our trip to Lakeland had some challenges and the afternoon airshow TFR shutting down the airspace was tight. Is the Mooney fast enough to beat it from Atlanta?

Where is the BEST BBQ on the East Coast?

If you had to name one amazing BBQ restaurant in the southeast that is conveniently close to an airport, what would it be? We went to check out one that has been recommended by so many!

The Adventure Begins at Currahee Mountain

Toccoa is situated in North Georgia and was used during WWII as a training base for the paratroopers. It was the setting for the first Band of Brothers episode. We flew our Mooney there to check out the Currahee Military Museum and the Currahee Mountain.

Do you fly just to get cheaper fuel? Unleaded avgas?

I hear ya, glad to know I’m not the only one to not mind the extra stop to get gas. It’s like a win win, more time to fly and do it slightly cheaper, it’s a no brainer!

    Space and Rocket Museum (Huntsville)

Thank You! yeah, you are right that they could have done a better job of showing Artemis and everything involved with that. That side was definitely disappointing. My kiddos were 50/50 on space camp, the other wants to go and the other doesn’t. I have a few more years to work on that :)

    Space and Rocket Museum (Huntsville)

We did this trip recently, posted a video of it on YT. We also opted for an Uber, was $37 each way. Ramp fees at MDQ were waived with our 15gal fuel purchase and got a $.50/gal discount when I said we were going to the Museum. Two adults and two kids tickets came to a smooth $100. It’s a...
