    What is the reference in the ATC handbook that says it is superfluous? I would say that "Direct LHS" is a new clearance, and that you no longer have a clearance past that. "Direct LHS, resume route" or similar is needed IMO.

    There used to be a number of places that would pair you with another pilot and the two of you would go flying with one under the hood, the other as PIC and safety pilot. They would sell you a block time of 100 hours multi, which was actually 50 hours at the controls.

    TL, DNR But, some good advice. But I did not see the MOST IMPORTANT CRITERIA for a headset. How comfortable is it after 5+ hours? THAT is the most important thing. All the other stuff is nice, but only nice. And any quality headset will protect your hearing.

    This ^^^^ Only difference is the color of the line on the navigator. I am old school, and I would not have an IFR airplane without a VOC/LOC/ILS. VFR plane? No problem.

    And misunderstanding of that trim indicator and how things works had caused issues. Fixing the trim before disconnecting the autopilot is just one more task at a time when someone may be task saturated. When was the last time a modern autopilot had runway trim?

    Do you understand how much TEL is added? About 2 grams per gallon. That is 1.21 milliliters. The additive is around 61% TEL. So that makes it 2.98 ml. A gallon of fuel is 3785 ml. So, deleting the TEL changes the overall volume by less than 0.1%. Yeap, that is a massive change.

    My panel was quoted at 8 - 10 weeks. And it will come in about 11 weeks of work. The tech was out sick for about 10 days and then attended a major avionics convention/conference that took a week from work. That works for me.

    In my case, I already had the GTN-650Xi, and the change in price to put in a different nav/com was not worth it to me. And it gives me an extra screen to show weather or terrain or traffic.

    GAMI has flown more than one airplane. And had a test with a flight school. Plus LOTS of hours on engines in the test cell.
