    IFR Refresher magazine any good?

I get both IFR and IFRR. I prefer the latter; it has more articles and useful information for private pilots, I think. IFR may be better for pros. Nevertheless, I keep telling myself that I don't need both, but I can't really give up either. Someone else mentioned Aviation Safety. It was...

Grand Caravan. Wow. I want one.

Something magical about this plane. I'll never forget the first time I ever saw one, sitting on the ramp. I'm just a C172 guy but a very high performance single engine high wing a/c is a dream/fantasy. Maybe even better than a small jet. It carries a big load, and is a sngle hi-wing piston...

    Chicago - KPWK??

Schaumberg is excellent for GA. Agree as to the lack of an IFR approach, but the FBO is very friendly and helpful. I've used it, and find it convenient to ORD and the City. Decent restaurant onsite also.

    Here's a sad picture

    1. These pictures just make me sick. 2. Why didn't they get the planes out of there before this happened? Surely they knew it was coming. Even the possibility of flooding like this would have moved me to move it. Maybe I'm just naive, but there had to be some indication this could be...

    What's a "BLC Malfunction"?

Lawsuits and Liability Waivers (x-post from red board)

My original response got censored. The powers that be didn't like one word I used. I dont feel like retyping it, since it was fairly lengthy. Suffice it to say...sounds like the judgement creditor eventually got paid, anyway. If a person has adequate liability insurance (like you apparantly...

Lawsuits and Liability Waivers (x-post from red board)

This is wrong on so many points, I don't know where to begin. If I get a case against the limited partnership you're talking about, I hope you're their lawyer. Maybe the law in your state reads this way, but I seriously doubt that you're seeing the entire picture. For starters, the limited...

Whats the difference between Prohibited and Restricted airspace?

Yeah, figured that might be an option, but I think I'll pass, thank you.

Lawsuits and Liability Waivers (x-post from red board)

This not legal advice. I don't know the law of your jurisdiction. That said, it would be my opinion that it isn't worth the paper it's written on. What, are you going to get the signature of a seriously injured person to sign this release-"either sign it or I leave you here to die." Good luck.

Lawsuits and Liability Waivers (x-post from red board)

I've go to plead ignorance on something in the title of this thread: what is "the red board"?

Whats the difference between Prohibited and Restricted airspace?

"Area 51" is "R", not "P". Somehow I susp ect that if you flew over it you might get shot down on purpose. Maybe not, but I don't want to test it.

Lawsuits and Liability Waivers (x-post from red board)

I won't go so far as to say there is no such thing as an absolutely unbreakable liability waiver, but in my 35 years of legal practice I've never seen one. That's not to say that there aren't circumstances where a waiver is unbreakable, but on another occasion it is breakable. It is basically...

    Lowrance Products - Caveat Emptor

I hope they stay in the market. I have a Model 1000, and like the screen size, information on the screens and user friendliness. It has stopped locking on the satellites when I turn it on twice, once in warranty and once outside it. Fixed both times, but I am a little frustrated that I ahve...

Speaking of certificates - yours IS plastic, right?

I'm glad I stopped by this thread. I hadn't noted that a new license is required; I thought it was just an option. So, at the risk of being flamed, uhh..., how do I go about getting a new license?

    NACO and Jepp

I only fly about 5-8 hours per year IFR, plus hood time to keep current; so take that into consideration. However, I debated this issue for awhile, until I realized that the only answer to the queston is what suits ME best. ctually, I liked the NACO enroute charts and the Jepp terminal charts...
