    Interesting Addition to my Medical

At this point I'm just going to wear the glasses. The eye doctor said that my vision isn't bad and the prescription is very minor. When I took my FAA medical in 2022 I passed the vision exam without glasses but to me it's probably easier just to wear them and not worry about it. I've flown with...

    Interesting Addition to my Medical

The SI had nothing at all to do with vision, mine was sleep apnea and I didn't have the corrective lens limitation on it so it's odd, again not a big deal but odd.

    Interesting Addition to my Medical

It's just strange because It wasn't on the first one and I haven't had an exam from my AME since my initial exam. He did send in all the paperwork on my SI renewal but I didn't actually see him and I don't recall ever mentioning anything about glasses when I sent them the stuff needed for my SI...

    Interesting Addition to my Medical

So my Special Issuance renewal finally went through and I noticed that it now says: MUST USE CORRECTIVE LENS(ES) TO MEET VISION STANDARDS AT ALL REQUIRED DISTANCES. Now this isn't a big deal because I do have glasses although I don't use them for anything other than watching TV and at work on...

    Renewing SI after expiration

Honestly? No I think for me it's just the psychological victory of having it because it was such a pain in the butt to get to begin with and I wanted to maintain it until I was due up for the next visit to the AME and then I was going to let it quietly expire and go Basic Med (stupid reason I know)

    Renewing SI after expiration

Other than the obvious of not being able to fly solo after my special issuance expires (and without Basic Med) are there any sorts of paperwork hoops I'm going to have to jump through to get a new special issuance sent out to me? I had planned on going Basic Med after 2 years and 1 SI renewal...

ADHD - anny chance I’ll be able to avoid the neuropsych testing?

I got completely lost in the thread and responded to a question that wasn't even directed at me, my apologies on that one but I think the OP is going to be forced into the neuropsychological evaluation. I'm not sure you can really have a trial diagnosis of anything. I think once you are saddled...

ADHD - anny chance I’ll be able to avoid the neuropsych testing?

I don't recall but I don't think it really matters much. I'm quite certain that it'll be charted because a prescription was written and then the prescription was picked up and taken. I mean there may be a loophole in there somewhere but I wouldn't count on it. My doctor even sent them a letter...

ADHD - anny chance I’ll be able to avoid the neuropsych testing?

This is almost exactly how I got put on adderall in 2009 although I was on it for a bit longer and I was forced to go through the neuropsychological testing/cogscreen but TBH it's not bad and the report the neuropsychologist wrote was actually quite interesting to read. The hardest part for me...

    SI renewal times

Yeah I wish it were that simple for me but the conditions of my SI are for both OSA & Anxiety. Oddly enough the stuff for the anxiety is less than for the OSA. Per my letter the only thing an AME can issue on in office is my blood pressure (it was a little high at my last exam but i'm on an...

    SI renewal times

Quick question for the group. Does anyone have any recent experience on getting their renewal for their SI? My current one expires on the 31st and I have to get my CPAP status recertification sent in and the doctor will not be in the office until Monday of next week. Are they quicker about...

    Special Issuance Renewal

I don't have it in front of me at the moment but I thought it was 30 days. I guess I'm just paranoid that 30 days isn't enough considering how long they tend to take on things but I do suppose this is a pretty black and white thing so maybe it doesn't take as long.

    Special Issuance Renewal

Does anyone know about how far in advance I need to submit my paperwork for my special issuance to be renewed? I have to submit a status letter from my physician stating my anxiety is still well controlled (without any medication) and I need to submit my CPAP data along with the sleep apnea...

    Sleep apnea compliance report

I gave them the initial status report with 30 days of data. I guess I'm just going to send them what I have, like I said-I can't give them what doesn't exist.

    Sleep apnea compliance report

I initially sent them 30 days of data which got me the SI. Either way I guess they'll get what they get because I can't give them something that doesn't exist. I'm not really worried about it at this point...I just want to be sure they have the data before the SI expires.

    Sleep apnea compliance report

I just hope that the FAA is satisfied with 10 months or so of CPAP data for me. My SI didn't get to me until almost August and I started using my CPAP in May but I'll have to send them the info I've got at the beginning of March since my SI expires March 31st because it was issued retroactively...

    Just wondering about independent CFI

I need to look further into that and see exactly what their deductible is and then just buy a policy accordingly to protect me in that case.

    Just wondering about independent CFI

This is actually the next thing I had thought about was just trying to work out a regular recurring flight schedule with him. I think the main issue with scheduling him is where his availability and mine intersect at the same time and an airplane is available. It seems like the school itself...

    Just wondering about independent CFI

The interesting part is that the guy I know actually knows the owner of the flight school, they went through training together years and years ago. I don't know that it's so much an issue with him flying with me as it is the insurance part of the equation although I'd think the insurance has to...

    Just wondering about independent CFI

So I'm 35.2 hours in and it seems that my CFI (who is affiliated with the flight school I go to) is getting busier and busier during the time I'm actually available to fly and it seems to have put me to where I'm only able to fly with him once a week at best and more often than not once every...
