    April solar eclipse

    I was down at Carbondale's MDH and the controllers did an awesome job routing all of their VFR and IFR traffic. I couldn't pick up my clearance in the air (as predicted). There were probably 70ish airplanes parked on 24. It was well worth the trip, and burning 0.5 hobbs on the taxi out.

    I guess it depends on the day and workload, if it’s extremely busy then first way is correct and less likely to get stepped on or “last aircraft calling say again”

    My instructor didn't like it either, wonder if we had the same dude lol. First flight I did myself after getting my PPL was fly to a Class C (KPIA) and TRSA (KRFD) by myself, liberating.

    From my experience, if you get an expected AS FILED, you'll get a notification for when you filed and one for flight plan acknowledged. Don't have experience seeing a full route clearance or with route changes yet.

    Happened to me once, and never again. To avoid this, while sumping I keep the cap closed or in my hand and do an idiot final walk around check and once again back inside, before firing up, check the caps left and right lol.
