'obsolete' G1000 - how big of an issue?

Thanks for the response. Sarasota Aviation actually has an NXi upgrade solution and I already have the upgraded transponder. They complete the upgrade within a week. MB

'obsolete' G1000 - how big of an issue?

Just running across this thread after a search for upgrading a G1000 to G1000 NXi. I just purchased one of only 26 Saratoga's with a G1000 and I've wondered about ongoing support. I'm just starting to speak with a couple avionics shops and the early feedback is positive. Might any of you been...

I have to agree. Reading through comments in various places about the Mooney crash have been pretty disappointing. Seems Mr. Merkle isn't the only pilot suffering from a lack of proficiency, sound ADM skills, a solid understanding of what it means to properly plan a XC flight, etc., etc., etc. MB

Apparently, the future of GA is looking pretty bleak with the sounds of more than one Mr. Merkle in our midst.... MB

Exactly. Diving for minimums on an approach is a ridiculous practice by itself but when the plate says, "34:1 Not Clear," what might one imagine the obstructions penetrating the OCS are? Maybe power line towers? MB
