You should install a db-9 for the serial port while you have the harness on the bench. It will make the firmware updates a breeze.

For those wiring a harness for this, TAKE MY ADVICE, Pin up a DB-9 pigtail and install it to the db-15 for the firmware upgrades.. You will thank me later. (I run 2 AV30's)

In your situation, I would have guessed a blown boost boot. You didn't have any smoke or fire, so it wasn't catastrophic. I bet you should have reduced power to get your MAP and EGT normalized and been fine.
