    CFI-Owned Instructing

I have a useful load of 508. Most 150's tend to be right around 500 lbs useful load. My plane can handle full fuel and two passengers weighing 186.5lbs. I think thats fine for 80% of the possible students.

    CFI-Owned Instructing

Most of the schools around me own their planes outright. I suppose I could call around and see

    CFI-Owned Instructing

Engineer as well. I figured I could either fly the plane 50/hrs a month, get a safetly pilot and fly 100/hrs a month, or a mix of both with a few students to instruct. I think I can come out ahead financially (and keep my benefits) while still getting 50-70 hours a month flying on the weekends...

    CFI-Owned Instructing

Not really interested in renting the plane out to students. I just want to instruct, solo students, and safety pilot with people to get my hours efficiently.

dual pic and under the hood (simulated instrument)

Have the safety pilot give the person under the hood headings to fly. There are people that have hundreds of hours of safety time. Just make sure you know how to log it properly and you will be fine.

    CFI-Owned Instructing

"on the side" meaning evenings and weekends outside of my full time non-flying job. I was planning on testing this over a few months to see how many hours I am getting before deciding if selling the plane and working for a flight school is a better move. It all depends on if I can get enough...

    CFI-Owned Instructing

That's how I understand it as well. I could see the benefit of an LLC where there are several members instructing in the plane, but not for a single member.

    CFI-Owned Instructing

I currently own a Cessna 150. I'm about to have my CFI cert and looking to instruct in my plane on the side. Debating Single member llcs (SMLLC) vs sole proprietorship. I have a good paying job, but most of my money as gone to flight training. I have next to no assets to my name (Recently...

    KT76 transponder issues

@unsafervguy I usually agree and try to upgrade stuff when it breaks. However, I got a quote for $2500 to put a used Garmin GTX 327 in the panel (incld. labor). I'll spend $200 to get this old transponder fixed before I drop that kind of money

    KT76 transponder issues

I bought the plane and it came with an overhauled transponder. I didn’t deal with the shop and the seller said the transponder had a 90 day warranty. I found a shop that will overhaul it between $135-289 depending on parts. If it doesn’t make sense to overhaul due to cost they will charge a 75...

    KT76 transponder issues

I found a shop https://www.transponderrepair.com/ seems like it may be worth a shot to send my transponder to them before spending a lot more on a replacement

    KT76 transponder issues

    Its a KT76 not 76A. I saw the 78 and 76 are direct swaps?

    KT76 transponder issues

Ill remove it and hit the contacts with some contact cleaner and re seat it. Hopefully that solves the issue.

    KT76 transponder issues

Hey guys I had an overhauled KT76 installed last February. Today, the transponder wasn’t lighting up and would only squawk 0400. I would rotate the dials to show my squawk code, but ATC would only get 0400. Any ideas? The light would work if I switched it to test mode.

    TKM MX-11 Issues

I have a TKM MX-11 in my cessna 150. About every four weeks I start to get a straight static noise until I jiggle the radio around and it stops. Eventually, I pull the radio and spray the pins on the back of the radio with QD contact cleaner. This solves the issue for another few weeks until the...

Engine break in time before commencing commercial maneuvers

I just had my 0-200 IRAN'd where the bearings, camshaft, lifters, hydrolic bodies, push rods/tubes, and one cylinder were replaced. I'm doing mineral oil for 25hrs. Straight cross countries at 65-75% bhp. No touch n goes or maneuvers. After 25 hours I'm switching back to Philips x/c 20w-50. I...

Recommendations for wash & wax near NY?

Gary sportys is half the cost for Aero glaze compared to spruce. I just paid $72 for a gallon including shipping. Looks like poly glide is another polish so Ill give aero glaze a shot first to see how it comes out. Do you add wax on top of aero glaze?

Recommendations for wash & wax near NY?

Gary I was told to use aero glaze and ploy glide on the paint. How did you apply them? Looking to do it by hand if possible? OP, I am based out of HWV and used the Wash Wax All kit to clean my plane as its a waterless wash... came out okay for now. What kind of plane do you have?
