What is the best way to block tail number keeping it hidden from public tracking?

The FAA LADD program turns off tail number sharing from FAA sources to flight tracking services. Only aircraft type shows up on Flightaware, FR 24, etc. What it doesn't do is block tail numbers collected from non-government sources, such as ADS-B Exchange.

NPS attempting to close airstrip at Stovepipe Wells

Just landed at Stovepipe behind a Bonanza. As Craig's photos show, it's not that bad. It's a little rough, but hardly worth mentioning. It would be such a shame to tear it up. This surface will probably continue to be serviceable for another 10+ years before it actually becomes a problem for...

NPS attempting to close airstrip at Stovepipe Wells

That's no exaggeration at all. It's kind of paternalistic (and, frankly, pathetic) that the government thinks it needs to create a specific area for people to look up at the night sky. It sounds like they have events at Furnace Creek where rangers take groups out to a dark place and give star...

NPS attempting to close airstrip at Stovepipe Wells

I agree that it would be much better to find fixes for the asphalt that don't require tearing it out right away. When it finally gets to the point where it can't be smoothed enough, then convert it to gravel. That is the master plan (2004) and is basically what Alternative A (no action) is in...

NPS attempting to close airstrip at Stovepipe Wells

I have a different take on last night's meeting, which I also attended. The NPS likes the airport location for a night sky viewing facility because a) it's far from the highway, and b) it's already on "disturbed land" so they won't have to do a whole Environmental Impact Report to put up some...

NPS attempting to close airstrip at Stovepipe Wells

Bump. There's an online meeting with the NPS tonight Wednesday, February 9 at 6:00 PST. Here's the link https://parkplanning.nps.gov/MeetingNotices.cfm?projectID=72747 It's a Microsoft Teams meeting, so, if you don't have the app on your computer, you'll want to download it beforehand to make...

NPS attempting to close airstrip at Stovepipe Wells

Well, my confidence in the NPS administration of DVNP and optimism that logic would prevail were clearly misplaced. The NPS rationale for closing Stovepipe is bureaucratic Through the Looking Glass nonsense. The NPS is blaming it on the California CalTrans Division of Aeronautics because...

    G100UL unleaded avgas approved

There was no STC required. I don't recall whether 100ll went through any kind of ASTM process, either. I used to put red, green and/or blue gas in my O470-powered 182. Interesting question about how many STCs will need to be purchased to use G100UL. It sounds like two, probably as a package...

Presentation on KRHV Lead Emissions Study - 8/11/2021

For another study about lead in children, that mentions all kinds of sources of airborne lead, but DOESN'T mention avgas or airports, Google "NCBI Moody Grady Lead Emissions and Population Vulnerability in the Detroit (Michigan, USA) Metropolitan Area, 2006–2013: A Spatial and Temporal...

Neither do I, but the conclusions are awfully bold in light of the details in the study. When considered along side other studies that don't focus on aircraft exhaust as a source of lead exposure to children, this study's conclusions read like they simply found what they were looking for. (For...

Of course TEL is extremely toxic--if you drink it or put it on your skin. The point is that there is so little of it in emissions from aircraft that NO properly conducted study has found that aircraft exhaust results in human exposure to TEL that exceeds EPA's action level. Regarding the...

There is no public health problem associated with 100ll, unless you count the group psychosis that got us here. The “problem” was entirely fabricated by Friends of the Earth with the cooperation of the air division of EPA and local environmental agencies such as the Bay Area Air Quality...
