I know things are changing in the insurance world, but in 2018 I bought a Comanche 250 as a one year vfr ppl and insurance was 2400.
Edit: Also my longest leg/flight was 1200 miles and my useful load is 1250lbs. I love my Comanche.
I had a friend park at the FBO last (2019) airventure. Long story involving all the rain, but I don't think it was overly expensive. The only issue would be reserving a spot if there's any left.
Old thread I now realize but hey.
I flew in to the last osh, in 2019, and the low altitude was so clogged, and going so slow due to the guy(s) who couldn't cruise at 90kts that I just flew the upper altitude at the higher speed (130 kts?) in my Comanche 250. So there are two lanes.
