lets say a guy was bored or just wanted to learn more about Avionics for when he might build his own airplane... what kind of courses or resources would he look for?
I was a 1000+ hour military RW guy with commercial instrument, and got my airplane commercial crossover and about 10 hours of instrument (including 6 hours complex) before I stopped (really just had my cross-country in prep for the check ride). Sadly, life got in the way.
But I'm a gamer, and...
so, as noted, its been awhile, do tower guys still need to do PAR approaches and do they still need to practice vectoring? I know our IPs in the Army were famous for throwing on the hood and saying "big cloud!" now what? and usually, we'd just dial up a local controlled airfield and either...
absolutely, and I'm planning on it... I am looking to find a CFI & CFII who will work together to get me "bright and shiny", I'm actually targeting closer to 40 hours, with a mix of VFR flying, and private and commercial maneuvers, with a couple nice cross country flights of 300-400 miles under...
thanks, I fear Im a little dated, we didn't have any approved GPS in the aircraft back then. I think VFR will be fast, like you say, but catching up on the avionics looks like a long haul.
yup, to be honest, when I did my commercial, my guy told me up front he was evaluating me, but also my instructor, because what you learn, and how you recall it when you need it. Things like pointing out on a sectional in the air, enroute and asking about airspace. they can tell fast if you've...
yep, that's how I did it, my instructor made me plan it VFR first, after we reviewed the flight plan, he said "so, busy tonight? in a hurry to get home?", I told him "Nope, what's up?" and he asked me to tell hime the time for nautical twilight. And then he told me after looking at my flight...
I had a long break between my final hours in the aircraft and my check ride due to three weeks of fog, all you can do is review with your CFI, I did a couple hot cockpits each week, and run ups, shutdowns, and radio calls with one of the local area towers who were slow. got to tie the info to...
I'm working on plans to return to flying, other than renewing my medical, any suggestions on updating my knowledge base? is it worth an online ground course? or would just getting books and reviewing aerodynamics, weather, airspace, FARs, etc better
okay, howdy all, Im a 60 year old pilot been out of the seat for 25 years. Airplane/RW Commercial Instrument (RW)...so not dead yet, but maybe a little more than a rusty pilot. I thought I saw something where airplane and RW instrument were no longer separate, my plan to return to flying and get...
