    Probably a good thing Grant.

...but no margarita consumption for Jay. I'd prefer he remembers our conversations afterwards :-)

    Portable NAV/COM

I bought a Vertex Standard ~10 years ago and it has performed flawlessly. I hear good things (and like) iCom as well. Something I do is have the headset adapter tied to my headset cord via velcro. That way, if the panel goes dark, I don't have to fish through my flight bag for the adapter.

    Solo!

Cool, congrats! Nice way to improve climb performance, eh? :-)

Well, I've lost my mind and bought it...

    Congrats, looks nice.

    7 inch tablet & ADDS-B options

Not counting your siblings or broken ones. Rather than go through the adoption hassles, you can simply buy me one instead :-)

    Giant Concrete arrows

Yup, mostly follow I-80. I think I cross it 10-15 times just on my way to Salt Lake City.

I'd prefer the Honeck family to adopt me and buy me one. You're up to, what, 3 of them now?

    Giant Concrete arrows

What's funny is this is pretty much the route I've taken from the Left Coast to Iowa City in my (metal) Arrow.

Towing trailer from CO to OSH...any good stops

Bleh...too bad re: new motel ownership. IIRC, there were a few other motel choices, not sure if any of them have courtesy cars at the airport though. Whiskey Creek...mmmmm. Made even better by the fact you can eat peanuts and toss the shells on the floor. Good stuff.

Towing trailer from CO to OSH...any good stops

Sure thing. The motel was reasonably priced the last time I was there. Run by a husband/wife team and they do a buffet breakfast. There's also (at least as of a couple years back) a Mexican food place across the street. I recall Avgas being a tad pricier but the FBO service was good. Nice...

Towing trailer from CO to OSH...any good stops

IMHO, it would be worth the $100 hamburger flight. Not sure about ground transport though. The times I've been there, we've been staying the night and the motel keeps a couple of cars at the FBO. Not sure if the FBO has a crew car or not. For us, it has been a place to stop for the night on...

Towing trailer from CO to OSH...any good stops

Scottsbluff NE has a great steak house near a little Mom & Pop motel (The Candle Light inn maybe? Dunno, been a few years). No idea about trailer accommodations though as I've only flown in.

    7 inch tablet & ADDS-B options

Wait, I thought it got renamed to "Adds Bee" Um...yeah, laying in bed last night, I realized my brain was thinking "Adds B" as that's how some folks say it so my fingers typed it out with the extra B. Duh. Why did I think of that while laying in bed last night? No idea, just one of those odd...

Dual Cross Country Flight with my very first $100 hamburger!

Just wait until you can boot the instructor out and fly solo on a $100 hamburger run. Big fun :-)

Yep, have seen/heard ForeFlight not doing anything non-iThingy. Heard rave reviews about it in iThing products. Great for ForeFlight but since I prefer a non-iThing product, I'll go with some other software solution. At OSH, I'll be interested to see who has what in terms of ADDS-B units...

    7 inch tablet & ADDS-B options

Did some searching on this, didn't see anything recent...then again, I may have missed something. Any recommendations for 7 inch tablets and ADDS-B receivers? My goal is to have something yoke mountable, preferably Android based. Would likely tie ADDS-B receiver to ship's power. Would want to...

    Piper Arrow as First Plane

I had just under 200 hours in Cessna 172/150 time and maybe 10 hours in Archer time when I bought a nice '71 Arrow with two partners. The complex transition was fairly easy and straightforward. Had to log something like 20 hrs. solo time afterwards before insurance would let me carry...
