Why no name for the Cessna 310?

Certain STC versions were given names but it was more for the conversion - Bearcat for was a good one for example. It's the first time they were able to do 300HP engines. That STC is still around. The Blue Canoe mentioned above is actually a Cessna name though and isn't a STC. It was never...

GAMI vs Swift UL fuel competition

From everything that I have seen though GAMI is the way to go. Completely mixable and it just "works". I think the FAA is so hesitant to make any official decision right now.

A sad sight and a good sight all in the same area.

I flew over this just the other day and thought the same thing. It was such a boost to have it in the NASCAR family and then just a let down when they said they are pulling out.

Until Blanton's comes back, may I suggest...

My favorite sipping bourbon is Basil Haydens. Smooth.. not to hot / spicy readily available (for now). Really good old fashioned maker. Doesn't get raving reviews from the bourbon "experts" but I don't care - it's good.

    KFC200 Auto Pilot Is Haunted

On the last trip, I put her in the hangar and everything was working. Yesterday when I went to pull her out and turned on the avionics, the KFC200 annunciator panel had random lights flashing. The buttons on the AP also made random things happen on the annunciator panel but AP would never...

    Pulse oximeter

This company has them for pretty cheap. Like others have said - for this situation accuracy doesn't matter - trending is more important. Check it on the ground and compare to what it says in the air. (Full disclosure - this is my company)...

    Need headset advice for SO

Clarity Aloft seems to be really good for the SO's. I am on the fence now about pulling the trigger on it.

    Camera stuff

OH - also... Go pros are terrible. I mean terrible. They fail nearly every flight in the summer. The batteries are terrible for what we do. That's why we take all the jobs away from the Go pro as possible - other than record video.

    Camera stuff

We use a mix of gopro hero 5, 6, 8 & garmin virb. One on the screen pointing forward. One on the screen pointing towards us, one hanging down pointing to the panel and one random outside. Could be the wing - could be the tail or somewhere else. Still working through that one. We use all...

    Air Wagner..... He’s baaaaackk.

I think I figured out all this youtube stuff now. You just gotta be really really terrible and people watch your videos. I have been approaching this ALLLL wrong.

KIOB Mt Sterling Kentucky Fly-IN (This Weekend)

For those who may be interested, the local EAA chapter is hosting this. We will be there in the 310 for most of the day. KIOB is the airport. Would love to put some faces to the names here. If you have questions let me know.

Is it the dumbest thing I've ever done....

That's great. Even at 100 / year you would likely be higher than average use for most casual plane owners. I have several guys who simply don't fly after purchase. I don't get it. I am always looking to get up in the air. Keep us updated on how it goes.

Is it the dumbest thing I've ever done....

Nope! This will be a great choice. If this is your first -- welcome. My only advice - USE IT. Actually fly it. I have seen many including good friends get excited about the concept of owning a plane, and never really fly it. Good luck

And that why we preflight, folks

I'd have to agree with others.. If that's the variables then the only culprit is either rain on the way back on the last flight somehow got in the tanks or the FBO had some contaminated fuel. If the second part is true then there are some other people out there who got really lucky. Or need...

Who do you use for oil analysis?

After using AOA for a couple of changes, the shop used blackstone on our annual. Big difference. I think we are going to stick with blackstone moving forward because of the level of personal attention that blackstone provides.

This will convince you to buy a twin

Love our 310... Such a fun plane to fly.

How to calculate per hour cost

I would say look at essentially comps as others have said. What are others renting the plain. It's likely that a well establishes business has already done all of the calculations for you. If so, that may save you time and effort. Unless you have a very different situation, you should be pretty...

Unhappy as a pig in sht

That's rough. I was just reading about this place a day or so ago that was not fire related. Hope that insurance was in force and they don't have issues financially.

Where's your go-to place to fly?

Oh man! That's bad. I could do it if we were REALLLLY light and weather conditions were favorable but even at that - probably not going to try it anytime soon.
