    Aviation Checklist App for iPad?

Hey guys, I just got the iPad yoke ram mount and combined with foreflight and an external GPS it makes for an awesome flying accessory. Since I usually have my checklist up on the yoke mount, I was thinking of replacing it with an iPad checklist app. I checked out the AirCheck and foreflight...

    Good Aviation Weather Books?

Hey folks, I am studying for my instrument rating (and ultimately want to become an instructor) and therefore would like to get a profound understanding of the weather from an aviation perspective (if possible, a book that explains charts reading and use of other aviation weather services as...

Ways to Mount iPad in the Cockpit?

i agree with you, but for the foreflight capabilities you get on a barely IFR equipped 40 year old plane its definitely worth it, to me at least. if nothing else, for the awesome plates feature.

Ways to Mount iPad in the Cockpit?

Hey, I am looking for a creative way to mount an iPad (ForeFlight) in relatively small cockpits (152's and 172's). I am 6 foot tall, and when I use it as a kneeboard, I find it hard to have full travel range of the yoke (specifically when elevator back pressure and a left ailerons are applied...

    PA-28 vs 172?

thanks but i don't want a 182 because of a) the relatively high fuel consumption and b) the higher maintenance costs relating to the CSU and so forth..

    PA-28 vs 172?

Thanks for the advice. What does AD stand for? Also, I would like the plane to be able to carry 4 people + a little baggage and fuel. If this isn't possible it kind of defeats the purpose of not getting a 152.. Which models should I look at then?

    PA-28 vs 172?

awesome. thanks. im going to look at both. as far as the 172's goes, i had been advised to go for the L, M or P models. i am also quite familiar with the actual airplane. i don't know the pipers at all (i have 1.6 hours on an archer). what is the difference between the cherokee, archer and...

    PA-28 vs 172?

    PA-28 vs 172?

hey, i am thinking about my first airplane purchase. the main purposes are IFR and cross country flying, as well as flying with friends. therefore, the 2-seaters aren't really an option although they are very cheap and burn less fuel. unless you have other suggestions, i narrowed it down...

    Time Logging Question

thank you so much. now my next question is, in a typical instrument rating training, how many hours of dual cross country do you log? there's that one long flight of 250nm with 3 approaches that will probably be 5 hours of cross country. is there usually more cross country to it? im asking...

    Time Logging Question

hey guys, i'm working on logging hours toward my instrument rating and i am really confused by the definitions. first of all, other than the FAR, is there a good source that explains the different types of time logging options for a private pilot? i am required to have 50 hours of cross...

    Weather Question

Oops, I wrote the statement wrong and I think that made you guys miss my actual question. Yes, indicated alt will be lower at high temperatures. I just mistyped it. Let me try to explain my question better. When it's warmer than standard, the pressure at sea level would be higher than...

    Weather Question

hey guys. i've decided to expand my weather knowledge (i'm a ppl and working on an instrument rating) and i have a question for you weather experts. when the temperature is higher, by definition your indicated altitude at a standard altimeter setting will be HIGHER than your true altitude. in...
