Passed my commercial multi add on on October 14th!

I have never flown the 150hp version. I think if I were to have an Apache, it would the the Geronimo with the 180hp IO-360s in it. That would make for a nice light twin to do some XC flying in. I love the looks of the old round nose Apaches. I do agree that by now people should know what to...

Passed my commercial multi add on on October 14th!

You are very welcome. I am hopeful it will help anybody considering Prairie Air Service or just in general for the commercial multi. That is a bummer about your experience. My dad used to own a 150hp Apache and loved it. I really enjoyed flying this Apache.

It has dual Garmin G5's now, as well as a Garmin 530 WAAS and a Garmin 400 (I had used the 430 so was familiar, also have had some 530 experience). Yeah, the LORAN and Bendix is gone. It's a nice set up now. Just wanted to put what the current package is so people don't think that was the...

Passed my commercial multi add on on October 14th!

Sure! Here is the link to the website: http://prairieairservice.com. Keep in mind as I said in the OP the prices are out of date. Seminoles are cool. I originally wanted to do my multi in something like a DA42 but I am glad I did it in a classic light twin like the Apache. Plus it will help...

Passed my commercial multi add on on October 14th!

I used a Piper Apache Geronimo conversion. Herb keeps it well maintained. It has something like 29,000 hours on the airframe. Herb has flown it to Austria twice and South America twice, Alaska a few times so it is well traveled. it is a pretty docile light twin to train in. I enjoyed flying it.

Passed my commercial multi add on on October 14th!

I went out of state to do my commercial multi engine add on with Herb Pello of Praire Air Service in his Piper Apache Geronimo. I picked him because I was impressed with what I read on his website and also I wanted to train in an Apache as my family has a 1969 Piper Turbo Aztec so wanted to be...

    Passed my IFR checkride!

Thank you all! I was fortunate to have great instructors and this examiner was fair and a very nice guy. His dad was a Hellcat pilot in World War II just like my great uncle was (more info about my great uncle here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackson_D._Arnold) We had a lot to small talk...

    Passed my IFR checkride!

I would say fly with your instructors as often as you can. I did both the north (KMYF-VOR A OKB-RNAV GPS Y 24 CRQ- ILS 28R MYF) and south course (KMYF- VOR A SDM- LOC D SEE-Hold at RYAHH as published (or sometimes we did that before the LOC D to change it up, plus my DPE had been known to do...

Filling out the form to go test (8710 I think)

That’s why I brought it. There could be glitches in the system. Luckily we didn’t need the physical copy but always good to have it. And you’re correct, nothing else to do until the DPE has you sign it after reviewing the privacy act and bill of rights.

Filling out the form to go test (8710 I think)

For me when I did my IR checkride, I filled out my time on IACRA and my CFI signed the application. He then saved a copy as a PDF which I printed out and presented to the examiner.

    Passed my IFR checkride!

You are welcome. That’s how I felt about 2-3 months ago when I was reading various other peoples gouges of their IFR checkrides. I understood most of it and knew that I was getting close to being ready. I was fortunate to work with two great CFII’s.

    Passed my IFR checkride!

I am thankful I had two great CFII's that helped me prepare and also had gouges from their previous students that assisted me in focusing on areas to study from. That helped a lot. And I am definitely filing IFR even on VMC days to stay proficient and current in the system. thank you all for...

    Passed my IFR checkride!

Thank you so much! I definitely will be avoiding ice and thunderstorms. I feel like the IFR training has helped me understand weather phenomenons so much better and has given me a greater skill level with flying in general.
