Merlin IIIb vs Piper Cheyenne 3 or 400LS

I'd bet that guy takes the first 150k thrown at him. throw 150k at opex/mx and throw it away when you're done. Might get you a cool jet for ~2 years. That said, i'd imagine getting typed in one right now isn't all that straightforward.

Instrument Departure - Cleared into the B?

Hah. I understood that. I've never had a problem going around DFW in the first place. My response was just a poorly worded shrug of indifference about having to go around in the first place.

Instrument Departure - Cleared into the B?

While inconvenienced, I'm not so inconvenienced as to see the need to do that. I'll just fly around it. Not really a significant addition of time to go around.

That is correct. There is an LOA in place between Fort Worth Center and DFW Approach to not allow transient IFR traffic to go through DFW Bravo. Overflying Mexico, to Whom do I Owe Money Edition

Shrug. I'd wager that the majority of GA pilots are not also LTC holders, and that your comment is not applicable, though it is duly noted. At 11,000 I was well above the Class C.

Overflying Mexico, to Whom do I Owe Money Edition

Exactly. I had no intentions of going to Mexico. I was already looking to divert (not to Mexico) and wait out the weather. In this circumstance, it worked out, but hope and luck are poor hedges for unpreparedness.

Overflying Mexico, to Whom do I Owe Money Edition

Yep, T306 Anima, at Anima, Direct KDRT. Was talking to Mexican ATC, which is what prompted the question. The whole thing was odd, since I filed to stay north of the border, but there was WX, which likely drove the reroute (kept me south of the wx), and it wasn't significantly shorter to shortcut...

Overflying Mexico, to Whom do I Owe Money Edition

This weekend, I was flying from KTUS - KDRT to drop off a pup to her forever home. This is the first time I've flown over a place that isn't the US... Clearance: KTUS - T306 - ELP - V198 - FST - KDRT @ 11,000 Enroute, ATC cleared me direct at ANIMA, which put me over Mexican airspace. Pretty...
