    Thinking About a New Roof

The best roof is one without a hole in it. :) Anyway, the shingles only protect the important part. That part is the underlayment. The shingles can be a total mess and still protect the underlayment. The underlayment is the waterproofing material. Sometimes a felt type with Ice and rain...

    What’s going on at United

Yes big problems. I think industry wide, but especially at UA. These things happen when your hire criteria isn't...... Ability, capability, experience, aptitude. This is barley the tip of the ice burg.

    National Association of Realtors verdict.

The last several real estate deals I have done, the agents couldn't fill in the blanks on a canned, state approved real-estate form. I had to correct it for them. Simple things like the wrong price, or the wrong legal address were well over their head. So what am i getting for my...

    From pilot to A/P?

If you have an interest in doing it, go for it. What you will be exposed too will be of value in many other things you might do. If you like to build things and tinker with mechanical stuff, it's some of the best training you will ever do. So go for it!

If you get into it for the money, your going to regret it.

Flying to towered airports with medical restriction of “not valid for flying by color signal control”?

PIA for sure. What you need to do sooner rather than later. There are more than one, infact many tests to validate color vision. They may make you take more than one as you advance through more advanced pilots licenses. But get with your AME an get the waiver. It's not that hard after you...

    Auto engine diagnostic qeustion (NA)

Yep sounds like moisture in the exhaust. Steam when the pipe gets warm enough. Excessive is hard to define.

How much money should I expect to make in the industry??

Yes, I would have started earlier in life, and planned to be broke and exhausted most of it. I would have learned to enjoy the sun in my eyes after 10 hours of red eye flying. Really, its the best and worst career ever, just not all at the same time, thankfully.

How much money should I expect to make in the industry??

    [NA] Check washing prevention

It's a problem. Lots of personal info on checks. It's probably as risky as the electronic funds being watched by some guy in Sao Paulo, or wherever. Crooks are everywhere. Electronic money just made it easier for them, with less or no risk. Paper is certainly easy to steal as well. Billions are...

    Multi-engine VMC Handling

Wow that's a big subject. Something that few consider. Engines seldom totally die. Sometimes they surge dramatically before failure. That adds a lot more difficulty in handling. The differences' between say a Convair 580 and an Aerostar are not even in the same universe.

Choosing the plane for Winter mountain trips

The learning curve is extremely steep and possibly deadly for what you intend to do. You need to learn how to fly first. Then gain gradual experience in environments you can handle as a fledgling pilot. Flying is extremely unforgiving. One you have flown consistently for several years you...

    Airline hiring

Once upon a time it was about "Could you fly". Preemployment check rides and such with a strong recommendation from inside the pilot ranks. I was asked, after a recommendation. "how much have you flown with that person and can they work in a crew concept environment. " That was important...

pilot airline jobs are we at the peak

I say go for it, but don't wait any longer than you have to. Seniority is everything. I don;t now how old you are but these days you can still start later in life, and still have a decent career. For many years 29 yrs old was the cut off for any airline job. Not so now.

pilot airline jobs are we at the peak

Probably in one of them. Yes its a great career once you get enough seniority to hang on in the bad times, and your company doesn't go TU. But you will pay your dues.

pilot airline jobs are we at the peak

Being a career FO isn't so bad. It's a great job in either seat. "Usually" best to be the Capt. But don't discount a career as a FO if that's how it works out. Would you rather be a FO for a career, or a car salesman, or realestate agent or grocery clerk? There are lots of ways to make a...

    FIKI Cessna 206 Replacement

I have never flown a plane that I didn't want to get out of the ice NOW!!!!! Anything that doesn't have the performance to do that is pretty much a no go for me FIKI or not. I have had a few FIKI turbo props that would not stay in the air if you stayed in the ice.

    New case against flight tracking

Simply... security. Lots of idiots out there, some would like their moment in the news. Doing somebody harm would get them their moment of fame. Should you have the right to track my car, my plane etc. Sounds like stalking to me with the possibility of you intending me harm. after 9/11 I'm...
