Just to add to this conversation, if anyone is looking to run this on linux, the latest version of wine was able to install the G530SIM that was mentioned above. The only problem is the HSI and the autopilot controls disappear when you have the window out of focus but return when you mouse over...

You do a single mag check on your run-up. there is a 50-100 rpm drop ideally.

That's actually me. :D My girlfriend promises to teach me how to survive up here though. I'm going to buy gloves soon too and I'm on the fence about winter tires. A lot of people have told me I don't actually need them.

Yeah, but I'm still training. I keep a blog detailing each flight and what I learned and what I need to study for next time. This is in addition to other basic stuff like what I did as well.

I'm going to be moving to Grand Rapids, MI just before Christmas next month and wanted to get an idea of what I'm in for as far as the training environment is concerned. I'm not really sure what to ask, but I only lived in Texas and I'm just beginning my aviation journey with about 20 hours so...
