Garmin GDL 52 and SiriusXM Audio

Yes I suppose running both GP and FF and wanting audio from both would be a challenge. I've actually forgotten how I set mine up - I use GP only and not FF - but I THINK the way I did it was to connect the iPad and the GDL52 and then connect the iPad to the audio panel in my plane via Bluetooth...

Garmin GDL 52 and SiriusXM Audio

Garmin will continue to support GNS-4XX/5XX for years to come

I agree with others that note it's not a great idea to install used GNS units today, but I think the economics of this situation are that Garmin really will support the 530W as long as they possibly can. My guess is they stopped support for the 430W units earlier because the GTN650 series are...

    UBG-16 / MUX-8A data rates

I bought a plane with a UBG-16 and did an upgrade to a CGR30P/C combo. Have not regretted it for a minute - it's great.

    Electroair EIS-41000: How To Lean

Can you point me towards where they say that? I don't see it in S.I. 1094D - is there another document from Lycoming on leaning?

what are you hearing re: Garmin lead times now (Aug 1)?

I noticed that Spruce has expected shipping dates - for whatever that's worth - in the December range for a lot of Garmin experimental stuff. My local shop had quoted between 4-6 months for transponders and navigators when I asked about a month ago.

    Avionics shop in Canada?

I can't recommend any shops in southern Ontario as when I did my work I ended up going with a shop closer to home due to COVID reasons, but I had good interactions with MISix up to the planning and quote phase, and they were competitive on price. Again I didn't use them so there's no actual...

    Bulk sharing FF flightplans?

Maybe not exactly what you want, but in Foreflight Web, the Flights tab has a "Share" option in the top right which generates a link that could be pasted into an email. Would have to do that for each of the 6 legs but could paste all links in one email of course...

    Garmin GFC 500 Disconnect

You saw this? https://www.garmin.com/en-US/aviationalerts/service-bulletin-22016-rev-a-gsa-28-servo-mod-1/ "Due to a supplier issue, there is a chance of reduced service life of one of the GSA 28 internal components resulting in servo failure. The servo failure can happen in flight with an...

    Supply chain- Avidyne edition

I think I did answer the question - someone replacing their high paying manufacturing job with a lower paying job is worse off. People, towns, and states (e.g. the middle of the country) that were most heavily impacted by outsourcing have lagged other areas (the coasts, cities) that received the...

    Supply chain- Avidyne edition

The numbers I quoted were after adjusting for inflation (Countdown to a reply saying "they lie about official inflation, and REAL inflation is way higher") - the U.S. in aggregate, per capita, after inflation, is much better off than it was 30 years ago. No one argues that when a person loses a...

    Supply chain- Avidyne edition

Not really. Some short term gains accrued to first movers that was then clawed back as others caught up, but the price reductions make more permanent gains for both producers and consumers. Arguments about "workers replacing good jobs with worse jobs" suggesting that there are fewer consumers...

    Upgrading a 67 Cherokee

My mistake, I thought you were somewhat tight on panel space. The 2x gi275 allows removal of all the legacy 6-pack instruments (or as many as you want to remove, I suppose) to crease another 3 1/8 hole within your field of vision for a nav indicator. I guess I misunderstood.

    Upgrading a 67 Cherokee

Would a dual gi275 installation paired with the GNX375 give you pretty much everything for about $15k in equipment cost and no panel surgery required? Keep the existing VOR+Indicator and comms, and remove all the other 3 1/8 gauges from the six pack if you want? I think the dual gi275 install...

    IFR C150 upgrades [help]

I think this is probably the most reasonable advice. The fact is that buying capability for your plane is not cheap. A previous poster also made a good point - what type of approaches are available close to your airport? Spending 0.5+ hours to get out to a place that has an approach you can do...

    2 G5's vs. Aspen 1000 Pro Max

Make sure your AP (current or planned future) is on the compatibility list for the G5: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/570665/pn/K10-00280-01#additional Note also the other threads here showing some issues in having a G5 + GFC 500 system with an Avidyne navigator. If you're going the G5...

G5 and GFC-500, this isn’t supposed to happen right?

Frustrating. I can tell you once you get it sorted out you will be very happy - I have the GFC500 with an older Garmin GNS530W and it is rock solid - flies ILS & RNAV approaches very well. Referring back to your earlier post about seeing a 429 error at the Avionics shop, I did see this post...

G5 and GFC-500, this isn’t supposed to happen right?

I haven't watched your video yet, and I'm far from an expert (I fly a GFC500 but with a Garmin Navigator, but I'm just a pilot), but does the issue only happen when the navigator autoswitches from GPS to VLOC? Avidyne navigators I think autoswitch from GPS > LOC whereas my GNS530W requires pilot...

G5 and GFC-500, this isn’t supposed to happen right?

In addition to what others noted on the HSI being in GPS mode but the AI looking for a LOC, the indications from the AI are that the AP isn't actually engaged here, right? The FD bars on the AI are hollow which means it's in FD mode only and not AP. Also there is no AP annunciation in the top...
