What do you look for in airplane videos/channels?

Make sure you have one of those pictures of yourself in shock or disbelief on the preview pane. Seems like a common thing on YT these days. I avoid those like the plague.

    Engine out at KLZU

Glad you are ok...worst time to have engine trouble! It scares me more than anything else about flying...engine issue on takeoff. I brief myself before every takeoff on the memory items and what my tentative plan is at certain altitudes. You sharing your story only motivates me and I am sure...

    Metal detecting…….Do you?

I have a metal detector. My older model is a mid priced Fischer F4. It works great for the beach trips. Find all sorts of coins, sunglasses etc. I have definitely cleaned my fair share of bottle caps from the beach though! Now, my brother has a Mine Lab...super duper (not a technical term)...

Taking my daughter flying for the first time this weekend

That is fantastic....start them early. My wife wouldnt let me take my kids until they turned 5 and honestly...that is about the age where they can pay attention and not go crazy grabbing things. Make sure you take a picture of the event and for each of my kids, I cut their little shirt tails...

My [older] kids as STUDENT pilots in my personal C-172?

I would buy a cheap, but safe, C150 and let them beat the hell out of it until they are in that X/C phase of training then switch them over to your plane...and sell the 150. Likely wont lose any money on the deal if it stays intact through training.

Name a book nearly everyone loves that you do not...

TLDR for me! I swore off reading books after college 25ish years ago. Heck I even struggle to complete an AOPA magazine each month not to mention the small dissertations some people write on forum posts LOL.

    [video] Aircraft crashes 2021 (compilation)

I dont know about yall, but I was expecting the worst for that Cessna 150 at 7:14. Fought it all the way down and burned up most of the runway it seemed.

    2021 flight hours

75 total flights taken, 109.4 hours PIC, 64.0 hours X/C, 266 landings/T&Gs Solid year for me. Would have been more if not for avionics upgrades/annual

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

Congrats on the new car. I love Teslas a friend has one with the Ludacris mod. He took me for a spin and punched it...i thought we got rear ended when he did it took off so fast....want one but my 3 hour commute a day would likely kill the battery. Speaking of batteries, better sell it before...

    DOS vs. Windows

A bit off topic but similar in many respects, a few years ago I was sitting with my kids (around 8 years old at the time) while watching TV, one of them suddenly asked what was wrong with the TV, in my confusion I asked what were they talking about. I was watching an old Gilligans Island that...

    102 pounds

I bought my plane and one of the items I wanted done after some avionics upgrades i had done was to get a fresh weight and balance, not just an add or subtract number here and there. The old W&B was done in the 80's. Turns out my plane was heavier by about 40lbs than the W&B showed. Glad I...

I just made the classic British mistake.

I had one the exact same color and rough year model with the rubber bumper. Was a great car to drive...a little small of course, but loads of fun. Working on it was the worst! Who puts a battery behind the seats with screws holding the cover plate in place? When smoke appears from under the...

    SE Pre-Christmas Burger Fly-in 2021 (12-11-21)

    masks and glasses

Simple solution. When you put on a surgical mask, make the rubber band around your ears cross one time. It creates a small gap between around your jawbone on each side so that the exhale comes out there instead of straight up into your glasses. You see kids doing it alot because the masks are...

    GNX 375 or GNC 355

I have a GNX375 coupled with two G5's and a Par200B for my panel/com. Love the setup. My GNX chats with Garmin pilot just fine and so my IPAD is pretty neat addition as well for the ADSB in being slighty bigger. for my aging eyes. GNX screen is great, but a little small at times in busy...
