    CAPS saves a family

I recently had some back & forth with a pilot on another site that mentioned doing this exact thing. One ignition wasn't working correctly on run-up but he took off and flew anyway. When I mentioned, ever so kindly, that I thought that wasn't a great idea he came back saying I shouldn't lecture...

Sportys Rant - incomplete process and tests including topics not seen

It's possible to use rote learning and pass the test but then when you need the information you won't have it. Your approach is correct and the further reading and study suggested is worth the effort. Being a part of this group has the great advantage in that many of the topics covered...

    RSV vaccine

Understand that my objection to your meme wasn't because I'm anti-vax or against medicine. I've used both as needed and I know the world is a better place because of the amazing medical advances that have been made. But there are those with differing opinions and it seems that they are not...

    Zinc additive by rislone ZDDP

I ran the VR1 in my VW conversion on a previous Sonex I had. Yep ... it has the ZDDP and it's good oil for flat tappet engines. A lot of owners of older cars like VR1 and use it for that reason.

    Zinc additive by rislone ZDDP

I mentioned Dan but I'm guessing you have some good input also. ;) My experimental uses a Corvair conversion so while it is air-cooled it isn't a true aircraft engine. Corvair flyers use oil with ZDDP (Rotella 15W40) and some do add a bit more during the initial break-in run. Latest reports are...

    Zinc additive by rislone ZDDP

I've heard it said that too much zinc (over 1600 ppm) can cause pitting and spalling. I have no idea what the truth is. I bet @Dan Thomas can shed some light on this.

    RSV vaccine

People have the right to make their own choices and I have to believe that when they make that choice they believe it is the best option at the time. I'm not saying that every choice will be the best one that could have been made but it was theirs to make. I get your point though and many times...

    RSV vaccine

No one here can answer that question for you and believe it or not your doctor can't either. I've always believed in TANSTAAFL (there ain't no such thing as a free lunch) and that applies to any medication or vaccine. I have found that wise choices for healthy living go much further than...

Plane purchases, gifts, and the tax man

They will get what they believe is coming to them. I had a homebuilt plane a few years ago. I received a tax bill for a plane worth nearly 50k. I went to explain that what they were seeing on the kit builder's site and what I actually had were vastly differen't. They conceded and gave me a break...

    Most insurable homebuilts under $30k?

I'm not certain this will help but for my Sonex I have a set of plans. I can scratch build every part of the plane except the wing spar caps. It is an aluminum T shaped tapered extrusion that would be extremely difficult for a homebuilder to replicate ...
