    Question about DMMS video

At minute 9:45 in the video, he does the math for the DMMS of a DC3. He says that the dirty minimum air speed for the DC3 is 64 kts and the clean minimum air speed is 68 kts. Then he comes up with the calculation of 68 kts x 1.404 = 89.9 which seems to be incorrect. He seems to actually be...

    Word on the Written Test

I took the written test yesterday. The college in my town that usually gives the test was still cowering in place because of the Chi-virus. So I drove 90 miles to San Angelo, Tx and took it at an aviation company there. The first thing I saw when entering the testing company was a religious...

    Samsung? Ipad? GarminPilot? Foreflight?

This may have bee covered many times before, but I am just in the market for getting started with some kind of flight computer. My desires are leaning toward Samsung/Garmin Pilot. Reading somewhere that Garmin Pilot was created for aviation, whereas Foreflight was created to sell IPads, I like...

    Area around a private airstrip

I read that the height above a private airstrip goes up to 1200 where Class E then begins. What is the horizontal distance of the Class G for such an airstrip? I am guessing that it is a 5 mile radius like a wide magenta airspace above a small airport.

An aid for the written test

I converted a Helix circle maker to help with finding degrees on maps and finding aircraft to VOR positions on the written test. I have found it to be better than using a plotter/ruler. I have attached two gifs showing the modifications.

    Trouble understanding VOR question

The VOR is tuned to Bonham VORTAC, and the aircraft is positioned over the town of Sulphur Springs. Which VOR indication is correct? (See #1 below) This puts the aircraft perpendicular to the Bonham VORTAC with 210º tuned into the VOR. Thus there is no TO or FROM flag, the needle is reflected...

Software test question wrong or is it me?

I am being vexed on this question. I think that I have answered it correctly and the test software is wrong. The Chart Supplement says that fuel is available from 1300-0500Z. Since it is in September in Ohio, it is DST. Therefore, you would subtract 4 from the 1300 and the 0500 = 0900-0100...

    Confused about airspace question

I missed this question on my test software: Outside controlled airspace, the minimum flight visibility requirement for VFR flight above 1,200 feet AGL and below 10,000 feet MSL during daylight hours is Correct answer: 1 mile. Where is there uncontrolled airspace above 1200 feet? I thought...

What does 'Airspeed is alive' mean?

I have not started flying lessons yet, but I have heard this statement while watching youtube videos.

Trouble with question on my test material

During operations outside controlled airspace at altitudes of more than 1,200 feet AGL, but less than 10,000 feet MSL, the minimum flight visibility for day VFR flight is 1 mile. Their material shows the answer as 1 mile, but shouldn't this be 3 miles? Outside controlled airspace is Class E...

    Class E

I am having trouble understanding one of the question on the written about Class E air space. Does Class E cover everywhere (all U.S. air space) that is not designated as Class A, B, C, D, G? In other words, would an area in the U.S. that has no airports, airstrips, or airways anywhere near...

    Time limit

My AME is requesting me to have a hearing test. He is holding up my paperwork until I get the audiogram. My question is, how long do I have to get the test before I have to start the MedXPress process over again? Will I have to start over again with the same AME? Thanks
