    Which aircraft to upgrade to?

    Three words: "Cessna Two Ten".

    Stuck screws on bendix mag

That's a different tool. Screw extractors are for screws, for bolts you need a bolt extractor. These look like demonic sockets that go over a rounded bolt head. They actually cut into the head of the bolt and give you a larger (and harder), and VERY positive wrench face. EZ outs and Screw...

    Pondering a new Plane Purchase

I like that you are honest about why you like he Barons. i have to say I agree with you on the aesthetics. I've flown Barons, and they feel like I'm moving the Earth around the plane. Vans... Very nice planes, but they are mostly a [truck] load of rivets held in place by thin pieces of metal...

    Quit using the autopilot.

A/P is a nice convenience, but not my thing.

    Pondering a new Plane Purchase

Piper Lances are actually pretty cool. As are C-210's :D My trips are not over water, so I don't need a 500 nm range. I just need a reasonable trip time for a 500 nm trip. I'm also guessing at least one of my passengers would need to ... "void" before reaching the destination, so a mid-trip stop...

    Pondering a new Plane Purchase

I'm currently in an AA-1. Yeah, I figured I would get grief for asking the question that way, but any time anyone on this forum asks what kind of plane they should buy, the answer is Mooney, Bonanza, or Cirrus. That narrows a field of 8ish down to three. So - assuming I have circumvented that...

    Pondering a new Plane Purchase

The Grumman has begun to shrink as I have aged, and I am pondering an upgrade. Should I purchase A: Mooney B: Bonanza C: Cirrus

    Stuck screws on bendix mag

We call it a "Grampa" (dunno why) Might be overkill on a mag though. Use a left-handed twist drill to drill out the screw. I use this method OFTEN on older planes, or planes that are worked hard (like commuters). The drill eventually catches on the inside of the screw and since it's...

    Can I paint my canopy?

We've been considering cling-tint film for our AA-1. May have to stop by AutoZone for some film. Of course, if it gets too hot, you can fly with the canopy open. It's actually really cool (kinda loud, but mostly cool).

    Towbar Prop Strike

I fell victim to this once. Taxiing the AA-1A I heard a funny scraping noise. It stopped for just a second right before the nose gear hit a bump. I pulled the mixture, and didn't touch the brakes until the prop had stopped. I got out, placed the towbar in the aft glove-box (baggage compartment)...

    Michigan registration sticker

Put down a less-sticky piece of tape, apply sticker to tape. or Apply release agent to fuselage, apply sticker over release agent.

    Male or Female Doctor

If we were be really honest the question would be: "Who cares about if my doctor is male or female? Is he or she in my network?"

    Male or Female Doctor

If you really believe the only differences between men and women are found in their shorts, you're not terribly observant. I mostly don't care about my Doctor's sex. I just know that a lot of what doctors do to me during a physical would be considered some kind of assault outside of the office.

Using descriptors instead of N number

Type and N-number. "[airport] traffic, Grumman 2894-Lima turning downwind for [runway], [airport]". Not terribly worried about the color unless there are two or more Grummans in the pattern.

New Pilot, Trip over the Appalachian Mountains.

I read a story about an airmail pilot who had to fly over the Appalachians at night. He was worried because it seemed like every time he was in the middle of nowhere, with no airports or open fields anywhere, his plane's engine would start to sputter. Another pilot told him to take a flask of...
