    Cessna 400?

I did my insurance checkout in one at Executive Flyers in Sacramento (KSAC) before I purchased mine. I’m not sure if they still have it available for rent.

Famous pilots you have met.......I'll start out...

I met a glider pilot named Sully on the floor of the California State Senate. He was being honored for something. Nice guy.

Where to park at San Luis Obispo?

I believe ACI is the only game in town. They are very GA friendly. Maybe take a peak at Oceano before you commit to SBP. It’s a really fun airport and a easy walk to the beach.

VFR out of North Las Vegas

I almost always get a VFR bravo clearance from Las Vegas departure, usually unprompted too.

Bankers See Private-Jet ‘Party’ as Rich Clients Snap Up Planes

Low hull value, and I’m assuming low liability limits too.

    Really about flight following #2

Sometimes you’ll get a “state your intentions” or “what is your on-course heading” or “what is your next point of navigation” but they are just trying to figure out which sector to pass you on to, not because they are annoyed or really care.

Jets really don’t like flying low...

Don’t forget that cycles count in turbines too, so avoiding a fuel stop makes sense on multiple levels.

    Recent GA experience with KLAS?

I’ve never been charged a ramp fee at HND, even when just picking up pax.

Anyone ever use a Ground-controlled Approach?

Where can I find a list of where these approaches are available?

    2006 Cessna T206H Stationair

Solid plane but lack of WAAS and the KAP140 are limitations to consider.

    Show off your Plane!

Someone posted this picture of my beloved Cessna 400 on Flightaware recently.

    Exhaust came apart in mid-air

Glad you are safe! Did you shut down the engine or keep it running on your way back in?

    ANR Headsets for Children

Bose A20 works for my 6 year old just fine. She likes the Bluetooth so she can watch the iPad while we fly.

    Air Wagner.....he’s the GOAT

He’s got a helluva plane and genuinely comes across as sincere even if the execution isn’t perfect.

TIL: Garmin Pilot w/Garmin InReach For Satellite Messaging

I keep an InReach mini in my plane. The monthly service charge is a no brainer compared to the potential utility of using it in a forced landing situation outside of cell phone coverage.

Does the walkable area produce less lift?

Reminds me of that Seinfeld bit... why don’t they just make the entire plane out of the black box?

    Pingstation: ADS-B fears Commericalized?

If "they" want to follow you, I think ADS-B is the least of your worries. Start by throwing away your iPhone.

    VFR in a BRAVO

I am guilty of that. I was flying to PSP and the controller asked “are you familiar with I-111?” I look down and see a massive freeway. “Affirmative.” “Follow that to join the downwind” As it turns out, I-111 is not the big freeway, it’s a tiny feeder route. Didn’t take long for the controller...

    VFR in a BRAVO

I rarely get "altitude your discretion" when inside the LAX Class Bravo. But I almost always get "clear to climb/descend through Bravo" while in Las Vegas. SFO seems like a "stay clear of Bravo at all times" kind of place.

    KSNA

I’m based at SNA now. Really easy but the controllers tend to assume everyone is local. Luckily, the airport has published a super helpful guide for VFR arrivals and departures. And unlike other airports, both tower and approach actually stick to these routes...
