Flying club members/owners: what’s your AOG policy?

Situation: a/c breaks 50 nm from base and won’t be fixed until a later date, with no fault of the member. In the meantime, member gets a ride back home at their own expense. When the a/c is fixed (club mx paid for that), and needs to return to base, does the club treasury a) absorb the entire...

    Oil Dripping

Cherokee 140 and the dancing ammeter

This happened to me. Ammeter showed a frequent intermittent charge/discharge until one day it just stopped charging at all. Turned out to be one side of the push/pull master switch which powers the S terminal on the regulator had failed after 53 years of service. Switch replaced with a new...

Thank you all for the responses! This has given me some good places to start. The carb, in particular, and mags.

    Vibration while climbing

Recently I’ve noticed after an uneventful takeoff, full power, about 3000’ or so and climbing, my C150 begins to have a slight power hesitation. A bit of vibration that I can feel in the rudder peddles, and see on the RPM gauge—faint blips of lost rpms. As soon as I lower the nose back to level...

    C150/O200 roughness on startup

Flew a long xc from MN to MO and back two weeks ago, put 8.6 hours on and flew perfectly both ways. Haven't flown since until today. Started up, and immediately ran rough. Sounded "louder", with vibration that increased with RPMs until the dash was visibly shaking. Brought it back down to 1000...

    C150 discharging

Update: Thanks for all of the responses. I test ran the engine again today, and everything was normal. Charging at 13.8v on the ground, so everything was doing its job. The short blip of charging during the previous flight in addition to a normal run up hints at a wiring issue, which, is itself...

    C150 discharging

Shortly after takeoff today, I noticed a small discharge on the ammeter. Turned off what electrical I could and it continued. As I headed back to the airport, it swung back to charging for a few seconds, then returned to discharging. When I landed and tested the battery, I was sitting at 12.5v...

Same plane, 4 crashes in 8 days, got to be a record

Two things I love about this story: 1) the featured photo of the pilot, smiling that smile in his lawn chair 2) the fact that he made it further east with each accident

    Tailbeacon opinions

I've had mine since 10/19 and has been running without issue, including the recent firmware update. It's paired with an old KT76A which will get switched out eventually but so far no problems. Install was one hour.

    "Flight Department Company" Trap

I am familiar with previous threads debating the pros and cons of LLC ownership. My question is simple: For those who have an aircraft owned and operated solely by their single member LLC (the LLC pays for all expenses, and you're the only one flying it), how do you avoid being classified as a...

    OBI inop

Hi everyone. I believe my original ARC 31640 (68 C150) course indicator may be done working. The needle stays in the middle (maybe moving a tiny, minuscule bit) and only the "OFF" flag is indicated. Different NAV frequencies on my MX300 do not change anything. Suggestions are appreciated.

Did you test fly your plane?

I didn’t. After hours-long conversations with the owner, mechanic, and pouring over logs, I felt confident enough. No issues.
