    Instrument Scan with 1 or 2 G5s?

I fly with dual G5s and I use my steam gauges for my cross checking. I find that this helps my scan be more active and, as mentioned above, these are the actual certified instruments.

Optimal timing for BATD hours during IFR rating

I used mine at the front end for scan development and learning how to read a chart. Since I was doing so without having the Georeferenced chart on ForeFlight, once I was able to do that already, it was so much easier. I plan on using it regularly to maintain my currency.

Cherokee 235 Rudder Trim Actuator question

Hello All, My A&P and I have re-rigged my rudder following the SM but we have run into an issue. When we go to put the Trim Actuator back in it's bracket, we are supposed to attach it to the pedals first and then reinsert the cotter pin at the end of the bracket. The problem is that, even...

    Price of 100 LL

KWDR in NorthEast Georgia is $3.49 a gallon. So far, that’s the only airport around here that has seen a significant drop.

    Preferred Part 141 Curriculum

Absolutely. at this point we’re just trying to settle on our curriculum set. One with good online lessons and management tools is what we really want. i’ve used Gleim and was very pleased with it But I don’t have experience with any of the others so I’d love to learn something from the...

    Preferred Part 141 Curriculum

There's a number of CFI's coming together that have used different ones. I was really hoping to hear from some people who have taught some of the more common curriculum and what their pros and cons were. There's some great experience on this board.

    Preferred Part 141 Curriculum

I am participating in a discussion about a flight school considering switching from Part 61 to Part 141. Those who have studied and/or taught more than one, which one do you prefer and why? We are considering Gleim, Jeppesen, Sporty's and King. Any other ideas and all feedback is greatly...

First long cross country and need opinion

sounds like an exciting first long-distance cross-country solo! if it were me, I would break it up with at least one fuel stop each way. A couple of reasons... You’ll never regret being conservative with your fuel. Picking out a stopover airport on your route will give you a chance to see...

    Would you bag this flight?

Normally, if I am asking myself the question of "should I bag this flight?" the answer is yes. If there is enough of a concern to raise the question, there is either a misunderstanding of the conditions or a reason for concern.

Bad: Downwind departure at non-towered airport?

Seems to me that much of the safety of whatever you choose depends largely on the amount and composition of traffic at your airport. If there is significant traffic in the pattern, I would exit straight or 45 and stay well clear of the traffic. If it's a quiet day and there's little to no...

    Anti-Fog Treatment?

Has anyone used an effective anti-fogging treatment on the insides of their windscreens? I see a number of them out there that claim to be safe for plexiglass (many are used for swimming, scuba and ski goggles) but I thought I'd ask you guys what you use.
