Back in the Left Seat Post Amputation

I posted awhile back about my battle with cancer in my knee and right leg amputation...at that time I was just looking for the path to get me back in the air. Update....I am 9 months post op and have been in an AK prosthetic since 15 Jan 22. We tried flying with one leg 32 days post op, by...

Cancer and Amputation...how do I get back in the left seat?

I own a Cherokee 180, so as I understand the hand break is primary and the toe brakes are optional. So fortunately I think the breaking issue might be moot in the set up I have. If I ever switch planes, it will become a thing to overcome. Rivet an attachment point to the toe with a push rod...

Cancer and Amputation...how do I get back in the left seat?

I like this news....I thought I would need that SODA for sure. So basically it's a local decision between my instructors and myself regarding competency and proficiency.

Cancer and Amputation...how do I get back in the left seat?

I am basic med, diagnosed with a rare cancer in my knee this summer. Self grounded and treated the cancer with radiation, then ultimately an above knee amputation to my right leg. My BM expired in Oct, along with my BFR and all currencies. I am instrument rated as well. I am cancer free now...

    Always have a plan B...or C

Coming home to IA a couple weeks ago from TX, and had to lay up at KEMP. Ceilings were too low to shoot the approach into our home field so we spent the night, knowing we most likely would have to leave the plane and rent a car to get home the next day as the scud was looking like it was going...

    Partnership of 5

Lot of good advice on here. I am the founding member of an LLC that holds a capacity of 4 managing members. We currently have 3 members and find that odd numbers work well for tie breaks in spending issues. We limited it to 4 as insurance said anything over that constituted a "club". So...

    Ha!

So it's on my phone as a picture, I don't have a URL to link it. I have saved them in the past to my one drive and provided a link, but no image appears, users need to follow the link to see it. I used the insert image and media icons and both want url's. I just want to post a funny flying...

    Leaning on Climb Out

No, not at all. I fly in a leaned state as required by the environment for the best numbers. My post was just stating the POH is very limited on information regarding effective mixture control, and 050 was the magic number in the POH.

    Leaning on Climb Out

Thanks guys, that helps clear it it up a bit in my head. So basically any climb at full rich looses power as you climb, by leaning in the climb and or at TO in higher DA, you try to obtain the 75% power rating for xyz altitude. KISS principle...keep the CHT below 400 and the RPM's @ 75% via...

    Leaning on Climb Out

I fly a PA28 180, and the POH is not all that great when it comes to leaning. Full rich below 5000' then basically as required. I am an Iowa flat lander, so for the most part DA is not a huge issue unless we have a really hot day. SOP is lean for taxi, full rich for TO, lean as required above...

    Vertical Card Compass Panel Mount

I am wanting to mount our vertical card compass in the panel, we have one hanging from the center windshield frame on our PA28. Is there a mount or bezel that will still allow access to the correction screws? I am not finding anything on the googlesphere. Any help pointing me in the right...
