I suspected that was the case. . .

Piper SB 1244B mystery to me

Thanks @Bell206. The troubling oversight - at least from what I'm seeing and I'm probably in error on this - is that you can't see the actual corrosion, at least in the example Roy gives in that video, with a boroscope. The entire wing must be removed and the plates of aluminum and steel at the...

Piper SB 1244B mystery to me

Roy Williams of Airframe Components gives probably the very best explanation of the mechanical implications and repair of Piper SB 1244B. Maybe someone can clarify, though, when at minute 3 he is showing some mated aluminum with steel plating which has severely degraded around the area of the...

    Insurance for seniors

Searched forum for 'insurance' and specifically for keyword 'seniors' - no results other than a warning to seniors about high rates. Can't say I didn't try. So here's the question: anyone have some ballpark figures for Piper Cherokee 180 or Piper Arrow 180 hp or similar, low time VFR senior...

Medical certificate question: 3 class expired but within 10-year lookback

Thank you for that added bit of information. The email I received said "general physical" every 4 years and the post here says "cme" every 4 years. If a general physical, when does the clock start ticking for that? At the issuance of the basicmed? If CME - what is that? Thank you.

Medical certificate question: 3 class expired but within 10-year lookback

thank you. so to be clear, even though prior to basic med I would have needed a medical exam every 2 years, because my 3rd. class medical was issued in 2014 I will only need BasicMed going forward so long as I comply with basicmed flying regulations?

Medical certificate question: 3 class expired but within 10-year lookback

Hello. Low time private pilot looking to get back in the game. VFR, single-engine land. Had my last physical 1/2014 and haven't flown since before then. Want to get current and back in the saddle. Do or don't I need to get a complete physical or will BasicMed fit the bill? Very healthy...

200+ hp fixed gear single engine - where are they?

Thanks all for the great suggestions. I did some math and saw that the piper arrow speeds along at 75% Cruise: 161 mph and a PA-28 at 75% Cruise: 142 mph or about 20 miles per hour faster. Flying say for 500 miles one will arrive in 3 hours and 10 minutes the other in 3 hours and 52 minutes...

200+ hp fixed gear single engine - where are they?

I'm always amazed at how badly Google searches can turn out. Can't seem to get a list of 200+ hp fixed gear singles. Always bringing back articles on everything but what I need. Anyone have a clue on model/manufacturers of these aircraft less than 90k used? Thanks so much!

Pre-purchase inspection focus on wings struts & connections

Hello. New to aircraft purchasing and considering a piper 28 series aircraft most probably from the 60's or early 70's. Call me silly, but I have an unfounded fear of the wings or stabilizer separating in flight from such an ancient aircraft. During a pre-purchase inspection is there a method...

    clearance and tower speech speed

Rusty VFR considering IFR ticket. I don't remember controllers speaking that fast when I used to fly. I'm sure it's an experience thing, though, and expect to come up to speed once I'm back in the saddle. Just thought I'd ask and get a consensus.

    clearance and tower speech speed

Hi. Wondering if it's just me or is it that airport personnel seem to be speeding up the delivery of directions (clearance, tower, etc.) even when there are very few operations on the tarmac/in the sky? I often enjoy and learn great tips on safety and flying (taken with a grain of salt as I...

    Medical certificate confusion

Well that's very interesting. But is acceptance by the destination country the same thing as the FAA's regulations requiring something different?
