    Ammeter failure?

Dan, thanks for the explaination. (I always thought it odd to not have a low voltage warning) I agree on the confusing part but your spelling out the "how it works" makes sense. The checklist of the light coming on is to cycle the switch, I am assuming this would (hopefully) bring the...

    Ammeter failure?

Don't know if this helps, but my 1973 172 does not have a low voltage light. It has an Over Voltage Light. (I have no idea if a 152 and a 172 would be the same in this respect) It is located above the co-pilot yoke. This is from my owners manual: "In the event of an overvoltage situation...

    Hangar Cost

$80.00 a month for a T-Hanger with concrete floor, electricity and rolling doors. A phone call gets the fuel topped off and the heater plugged in.

OOOPS. Please do not take the above as me supporting flying with outdated charts, I always fly with current paper:yes:

    Carrying minimal paper

I found this on the subject when I was trying to find out the answer to the question "Do I need current charts?" (That was before I found this board!) http://www.naco.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=naco/faq#q2e What is the FAA policy for carrying current charts? The term "charts" is not found in...

Sport Pilot "one of the worst things to happen to GA"?

I have been following this thread, and now I wish I had not! Now I must go back and get my money back from my college, they sure did not help the landings I had last night:eek: Ray and Henning, not the planes you asked for, but: http://www.aircombat.com/ They will be in Houston in...

    10,000 gallons of Mogas

If I can be so bold but to post again (yes I am a newbie!), I think one needs to look at the intent of the standards/rules/codes etc. that cover refueling aircraft. IMHO (and how I would interpret the code), there are two reasons, beyond preventing a fire, it says not to fuel inside: 1-A...

    10,000 gallons of Mogas

Because it is raining out and I cannot go fly, I thought I would dig into it and add my 2 cents. I agree with Trapper John, I am not aware of a law, just the NFPA standards. Following this depends on whether it was adopted by the authority having jurisdiction. Interestingly, it does state that...

How to save $$ on pilot supplies

A CFII I flew with did something similiar to the zoggles, only he taped off the part he wanted to see out of and took heavy grit sandpaper to the rest. It still let light in but you could not see out.

    Toys From OshKosh

I have been looking at that. I have two MX-300's, a DME and an audio panel, thinking about selling the DME (after repair) which would give room for the dock. Wife says I have to slow down on my daydreams though, so I am going to silently figure out a way to make it work:D

    Toys From OshKosh

I am probably going to start out with the Aviator Light, as I have heard you can upgrade/downgrade somewhat monthly, although they do not advertise that. They did have a pretty good deal going for the first year of Aviator, could have got it for about $32/mo as they waived the $75 activation...
