    Anti-Thanksgiving Feast

As it's deer season here, and we have fresh venison, it's Rouladen at our house. Sides will be potatoes from our garden and maybe Brussels Sprouts.

Got "gassed" in Milan...not the good "gassed"

When I was a kid, maybe 7 or 8, our home refrigerator sprung a leak. This would be about 1945, and Ammonia was used then. Mom sent me to the refrigerator to get something, and when I opened the door I about fell over, it was so strong. I can appreciate what happened to you. I was OK, but did...

    Flyby Causes Panic

Didn't look dangerous to me - just a go around. Years ago I was on a 727 landing in Worcester, MA. There was a fierce crosswind and the airport is in a high elevation. The pilot did a beautiful slip and touchdown. Most of the passengers were upset. The guy next to me thought we were going...

    Courtesy Cars

We were stuck in Walnut Ridge, AR for two days due to weather. The courtesy car was an old police car. They told us it was OK (I did call twice a day to check). Very nice people. I did fill it up before returning it, but then, I always do that with courtesy cars. On the same trip we used...

    Aircraft battery question

The Gill G-25 in my plane is rated 225 cranking amps. That should start a light duty vehicle engine. Especially in warm weather and when the vehicle has run lately. I would wonder about your jumper connection - maybe allowing a lot of voltage drop.

What is your favorite store bought BBQ sauce?

I use Bulls-Eye. Probably pretty plain compared to what the rest of you are talking about.

Huh? Woman complains about Hobby Lobby display

I hope she doesn't wear any clothes with cotton. Some people are so creative at looking for ways to be offended.

    Guiltless old TV pleasures

My Wife likes Scarecrow & Mrs. King, so I got her three seasons of that. We also like Mannix, Sky King, Have Gun - Will Travel, and Man with a Camera. It's great we can watch these things any time we want, especially since there's generally nothing on TV worth looking at. 200 channels and...

    Colorado flyers - Cabela's tomorrow?

We got stuck in Sidney, NE in July while heading to the Cessna 170 Assn. convention in Longmont, CO. There were 7 170's and 13 people. Cabela's came out to the airport, picked us up and took us to their store. Later they took us to a restaurant for lunch. We then called them and they took us...

    average xc

Interesting that some of you don't want to fly as long as you will drive. For me, it's the other way around. Of course it depends on conditions. I can drive forever in rural areas, but not in congested urban ones. Guess if I was flying in controlled/congested airspace I would tire quickly...

    Dumbest Aviation "Products"

 I thought I was the only one that felt that way. I like full brimed hats, but they interfear with my headset, so I sometimes wear a baseball cap if I'm flying into the sun.

There's the Crosswind Cafe at Owosso (KRNP). They are open weekends for breakfast and lunch. Nothing special but always several pilots there and we always have good conversation. I'm at KOZW

So why aren't there any cool commercials to motivate people to go fly.

Just saw this on the AOPA site. Kind of fits into this discussion - http://www.aopa.org/oshkosh/2012/news/120724engine-company-takes-flight-training-to-shopping-malls.html If this works, maybe Cessna, Piper and others could join in.
