    Hope this thread isn't too old to dig up. Does anyone have experience with e-book or PDF far/aim vs the iPad/iPhone apps? Seems like the apps would update year to year while you'd have to re-buy the e-book each year? I think it's finally time to stop carrying that load of paper everywhere...

    Additionally, it seems a 2-3% inaccuracy is pretty common on a tach. I've seen this comparing an optical tach to a mechanical one. This is more like a 20% inaccuracy, however.

    So a tach is minimum day vfr equipment per 91.205. To me that means an inop tach grounds the airplane. What about an inaccurate tach? Say one that is 3000-5000 rpm off and swings within that range? (bad cable). Is that considered inop? Should it ground the a/c? Thanks, Matt

    We hit Rippon @ a/o 7:15 wed morning. There were maybe 3-4 planes ahead of us and everyone was following the notam. Everyone was getting their own runway, so our arrival was actually pretty easy. I won't count on being as lucky next year, however.

    It doesn't look like they're going to be so scattered now. We can't get out of town until Friday morning. I'm just hoping it's VFR-enough friday morning to make it down there. If not, we'll either have to give up at least 1 nights rent or drive the 3 hours.

    As room/ Weight & Balance allows I'll bring an EZ-Up sunshade and/or extra folding chairs. My wife and I plan on heading out there as early as possible (VFR) Friday morning. This will be our first time, so we'll help out anywhere we can. Kind of figured we'd find our place once we get there.

    Yup. I got mine last year for 5854.66. That includes the training materials , the check ride, as well as a 30-3G headset and some other misc stuff I didn't really NEED. Flew 152's twice a week. Bought bulk time at a discount. Used MS flight sim (not loggable) where it would help (mostly NAV)...

    I was also planning on gathering cards on the way in. If it sounds like it's turning into a group activity or something, then that may change. It would be cool to launch out of Gastons in groups of 3 or 4 (with safe spacing of course).
