Same. The SP is the marketing designation for the 172S much like Hawk XP is the marketing term for the R172K. I can't remember what the "SP" meant though...

The price difference is not $800. The replacements are quoted PER SEAT at $389, so $778 for the pair. The STC'd kit is quoted at $939 for TWO SEATS. So only $161 difference!

So apparently it gets worse (I just asked someone I knew). The planes were sold at a big discount (even planes not legally owned by them). Students and instructors money stolen, and the owner left the country.

I did my private there in 2007. The "new" owner (Bill) sold it a couple of years ago or so. I haven't used them for 5+ years as I was no longer getting good customer service. Last week, many of their planes suddenly appeared across the airport at Attitude. Can't believe how they treated...

Just bought an iPad mini last week and love it. Was previously using a 1st gen iPad. The mini mounts nicely on the yoke without getting in the way. I think this photo was taken at chest level, as I don't recall the instruments being obscured so much.
