Where to buy “sticks” of 4130 tube?

Nobody carries it in Nashville. Ordered from an Indianapolis.

Where to buy “sticks” of 4130 tube?

It welds more easily to various steel alloys. Dirt cars and sprint cars endure so much more flex and bending than any airplane I’ve been around. I’m sure it’s suitable for experimental of course. The heat affected zone is smaller as well. As for gas welding it, I live in the 70’s and up. TIG...

Where to buy “sticks” of 4130 tube?

I’m in Nashville TN. None of the steel suppliers carry or even want to mess with 4130 tubing. I’m not trying to buy 100’ of anything. I need a few 10’ sticks of various size. Mail order is extremely expensive to ship and per foot. What do you builders do for tubing?

    Rudder Pedal ID

Looked at a PA-12 today with these. They look like Cessna pedals but there are too many “serrations”. I can’t tell if that “tab” that supports the bottom of the master is built on or fabricated. Anybody got a clue?

Reserving N numbers… these companies suck!

The fact that a non citizen non pilot is behind this makes it 90% of the irritation.

Reserving N numbers… these companies suck!

It sucks that it’s a guy in Iceland who doesn’t even fly. He’s using public resources to profit off of a foreign country ( to him). Thats messed up. He wants $9500 for the number I liked.

    Reselling N-Numbers as a Business

I inquired about a short number. Dickweed replied from Short N Numbers. $9500. FAA search isn’t accurate. When you search for available, and then go to reserve it… it’s been reserved. The bot beats the human to the availability. Pro capitalist, but again… as said… public resources being abused...

Reserving N numbers… these companies suck!

The guy wrote me back. They want $9,500 for the simple N number I would have liked. Yeah that’s crazy. It’s legal, it’s capitalism… it’s just petty.

Reserving N numbers… these companies suck!

Building an Experimental. I go onto FAA’s registration page. I live under a rock I guess. Companies go reserve thousands of N numbers. Then they hold you hostage to pay $3000 for it. I get it. Capitalism… supply and demand blah bla bla. N number registration should be tied to an actual airplane...

    Stolen logs, depreciated value questions

Flight bay along with a few other things in an apparent office break in. I didn’t ask much more than that. It sounds like they were with the mechanic and the office was broken into after the annual. Lots stolen, those happened to be among the stuff in the file cabinet I’m guessing. I’ve always...

    Stolen logs, depreciated value questions

Yes. He’s owned it for 33 years. It’s always been in annual and flying.

    Stolen logs, depreciated value questions

That’s a good way to justify the devaluation. Thanks.

    Stolen logs, depreciated value questions

A friend of mine has a neat little Champ he’s owned for quite a while. He just got the airplane out of annual last month. I didn’t humiliate him with questions, but the logs were stolen. He’s pretty sick about it and has lost interest in the airplane. I believe his age is also another reason for...

    1963 Maintenance Manual

I loaned my 1963 172 Maintenance manual out to a friend. His AP “ lost “ it. He’s willing to pay for the replacement… but after months of looking, we can’t find one. I’ve given up on eBay. I always look there and Craigslist. Yeah I can go online… but it’s nice to have the paper manual. Does...

Mounting an inclinometer aka slip/skid Ball

The string mentioned above my post. I’ve never fully understood why some helicopters have that string when in fact they have expensive instruments. One could say winds… rotor wash comes to mind. Hope that clears up the chat.
