Piper Lance Emergency Landing in Strip Center Parking Lot -Indianapolis

Ya the wires were a big problem in the area. Luckily he was north of 86th and all lines appear to run E/W on the south side of 86.

Piper Lance Emergency Landing in Strip Center Parking Lot -Indianapolis

He broke the landing gear when he went into the ditch. I believe both wings were intact, hard to tell in any of the photos if the right wing wraps around the tree. I have no clue how much damage can be done and still be reusable...

Piper Lance Emergency Landing in Strip Center Parking Lot -Indianapolis

I was driving past the parking lot when it happened. Amazing to watch. Great job landing, walking away and not hurting anyone.

    Buying into fractional ownership

Shouldn't the reserves be created through usage? I am considering the same thing. It just seems inequitable to say the engines been used 1700-2000 SMOH, and he walks in and has to pay 1/5 of the cost when he didn't fly any of it getting to that point. Just me and partnership experience; but...

    Buying into fractional ownership

I disagree w/ the above. Reserve should be there to cover the new engine and install once it is necessary. Why would someone buy into a partnership and turn around and owe 1/5 on a 100% TBO engine? The reserves should be paid for usage to cover the M&E (or at least factored into the buy-in).

    Doctor office visits

I wait 30 minutes, especially for good ones, but if they can't provide an explanation as to time I walk out. Only had to do it twice. Last time I did it, the Dr. himself called me to apologize and worked me in the next day when it worked for me.

    St Barths anybody?

Ya, strange he decided to land on the last 2/3 of the runway, but what do I know. Could be a short stopping plane.

    St Barths anybody?

Well that's about enough to scare me from ever flying again (not really) but WOW!

    Correct Pathway to take

I appreciate all the feedback and advice. I have started down the SSRI Path 1 process. There is no formal diagnosis of any mental health issues, my wife is in health care, and after starting a new job, taking lead on a multi-billion dollar project, sitting for CPA, and kids, my wife thought a...

    Correct Pathway to take

@woodchucker - Thanks! We've both been dieting for the past 8 weeks and she's down 5-10 depending on the day and I'm down 30. But point taken and I greatly appreciate the insight of everyone on the board who has provided helpful advice. Very helpful comment in terms of seeing what the family...

    Correct Pathway to take

I was wondering about that. One of the planes that I had an eye on was a 172RG but didn't know if you could fly one of those prior to having the endorsement. Thanks!

    Correct Pathway to take

Thanks. I'd never heard of the concept of experimental, but looks very interesting. While I am mechanical, I'm probably not one to build my own plane quickly. While the Sport Pilot seems reasonable, it seems the LSA weight requirements are being upped next year. If I meet all of the PPL...

    Correct Pathway to take

Yes, I've looked at those. I'd also need a new career that pays me a lot more than I make today. :( Or win the lottery. I keep trying to dream.

    Correct Pathway to take

Completely agree. Something I have in the back of my head, but the oldest if 14 and we hope she stays local for college, so 7 more years. I'm finding that while it may work today, it likely won't work long term. So I'm still trying to figure it out. Still have to deal w/ medical first.

    Correct Pathway to take

Thanks for the paste from the medx guide. OSA is the easier of the things to deal with apparently. PCP put me on a drug that is not certifiable for Irritability and weight loss that I am going to have to deal with. Does not sound like a fun process overall.

    Correct Pathway to take

Well I appreciate everyone's help and input. My take away was deal w/ the medical and that appears to be a bigger issue to overcome than I anticipated. Not sure it's worth it at this point given all the hoops I have to jump through, but I will continue to explore the process. Still - super...
